Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Discount Wii U games

Hello all,

I'm getting a wii U today and of course I will be picking up alot of the 1st party titles available for the wii u and I'm aware of which of those I like. These will mostly be birthday and holiday pickups as $60 is steep for me.

However, my question revolves around what games are out there on wii U that can be had for under $20 on the used market that are worth playing. I will probably be picking up at some point zombiU and assissins creed 3 (missed out on it on the 360). I have batman arkham city on 360 already so that will probably be out unless i have a compelling reason for it.

there is nothing. anything on wii u that is worth a shit is going to be expensive. its the wrong console to get if you want cheap games. if you are getting it because it has games you want to play, well then youre going to have to pay $40 or more.

i have to always bring this up though because people dont seem to remember or understand. there is a flip side to buying games that are worth a lot. you can always resell them and get half your money back (or even more if you sell on ebay or craigslist). that is the only way youre going to get wii u games for 20 dollars, by reselling them when youre finished with them.

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate is less than $20 on amazon new. :D
The Wonderful 101 you can find at retail stores for $30 new. (Amazon it is $44)

As for used... blah. I don't normally liked used games. If you just look at Wii U games on amazon, you can see them all. Most are pretty cheap new. (Need for Speed Most Wanted U is another example. About $20 new)

Not true. Only Nintendos own games usually hold their value. Rayman Legends, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Splinter Cell: Blacklist, ZombiU, Batman AC and AO, NFS Most Wanted, Ninja Gaiden 3, Watch_Dogs etc...can all be found for under 20 bucks at this point.

You can get almost all 3rd party efforts for the $20 price point. I got both CoDs, MH3, Injustice, Deus Ex, Zombi U and the like for that price. You should also look at the eshop for digital games. I ended up buying RE:Rev, Child of Light, Watchdogs and the like on the eshop for a low price.

there are indeed exceptions to what i said, but this is the general rule.

but honestly... lets be honest here. the only games on that list that are worth taking a look at are rayman and zombiU. if youre getting a wii u to play watch dogs, ninja gaiden 3, batman, splinter cell, etc.. then you got the wrong console. you can get all those games on 360 for way cheaper and theyre usually better versions. the wii u is not the system to get if youre looking for cheap games. it just isnt. plain and simple. that is what i was really trying to say.

eh.. moreso with the wii u.

with the wii, there were really a lot of good games you could get for relatively cheap (from nintendo AND third parties) the gamecube was kind of the same situation though, but still not as much.

are you buying the MK 8 bundle? it includes all DLCs which is great, or try the SMM bundle which includes the 30th anniv mario amiibo.

for used games, MP10 is $32 at Amazon, Lego: Jurassic World is ~$30, Hyrule Warriors is ~35. just check out the sites - Walmart, Gamestop, Amazon, etc.

i have Amazon prime for free shipping hence i've preferred to shop online at Amazon. :)
