I tend to prefer Japanese games. Especially JRPGs. I've tried a few WRPGs and hated them (Skyrim being a shining example). But I do like some western games like Minecraft and Uncharted for example

Truth and for that reason I did not enjoy gen 7 as much as I should have. I am personally hoping for a Koei Tecmo comeback (very plausible) and a Se comeback (Not as plausible due to mobile).

I think it is funny that the big Se had to resort to mobile while KT is making tons of console games and turning profit every quarter.

OT: I buy more western games atm, but I enjoy japanese more. So currently a tie.

I like and play both but if had to choose one over the other for the rest of my life, I choose japanese games.

Metal gear, ff, Gran turismo, devil may cry, resident evil, Mario, Zelda, pokemon, Dragon quest, star ocean, silent hill, tekken, soul calibur, ninja gaiden, dbz, one piece, naruto, dark souls.

Cod, halo, assassin's creed, the witcher, gta, Madden, nba 2k, Forza, gears of war, batman, uncharted, ratchet and clank, doom, Half-Life.


Both sides have great and entertaining games and franchises but Japan is better known for its characters than western games.

Western games by far. Although, my favorite game series is from Japan. JRPGS are my least favorite genre to be quite honest. Too much annoyance in those games with story and the gameplay is boring imo.

Japanese games for sure. I just find them more satisfying to play in general. Of course Nintendo being a part of this category gives it an edge as well.

But I still love quite a few western games.

90% of my games are western games so that should give you the answer.
