Forums - Gaming - Bungie takes away content from Destiny (if you don't buy TTK)

Hi,

just stumbled upon a thread on GAF:

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1113386

"I am currently a level 34 warlock in destiny, and I do not have TTK. things I cannot seem to do:

Strikes are only available at level 20 max. I have no way to od any strikes above that level

PoE is available to me only at level 28. After I completed the level 28 one, no other levels opened for me. Currently is the biggest level mission I can do.

All engrams I get seem to be giving me year 1 equipment. I got a green drop in mars that gave me a 165 armour. Later I got a blue engram that gave me a 101 armour.

Either this is temporary, or Bungie put the basics of year 1 game under the TTK paywall.

Anyone getting these issues as well?

EDIT - To clarify, I could do Strike mission from level 18 up to level 28 before
and I could do 4 levels of PoE missions, up to 34. So they locked me out of content that came with the original game and the 2 expansions afterwards"

So Bungie forces you to buy TTK to get content you had access to before.
What's your opinion about it? Is it ok to not get access to content which you bought and had access to before because of an expansion, no matter how good it is?
Right now I can't think of any game that ever did this before. Taking away several modes, sure (look at what happened to the multiplayer for GT5) but this is in another league as Destiny requires to be online so they can't take that away for obvious reasons.

this is just what gaming has become these days.

Bull.

So, they are taking content away from the base game and blocking it so it can only be accesed through the expansion? Didn't Activision do something similar with CoD and its DLC a couple years ago?

You know it deserves the GOTY.

Come join The 2018 Obscure Game Monthly Review Thread.

I feel this should suprise no one as they did something like this with their last DLC I beleive.

Still a gross practice imo.

89% on metacritic son. Totally didn't buy reviews.

Will be reserving my judgement til we have more and better info. Maybe they just goofed up something, and are gonna patch it to fix it.

EDIT: Read through part of the GAF thread, and it appears that a bunch of year 1 content was also updated, and is now countend as a "part" of The Taken King, since the update to that content was a part of The Taken King. So they really did lock out content from the Year 1 content unless you buy The Taken King. What a bunch of crap.

Or maybe they test the waters?

Actually no. I have TTK and I too cant do PoE above Lv 28 or Classic Strikes above Lv 20.

Of course I can do the new Lv 36 strikes and earn Year 2 gear but thats what I paid for

Exactly. While this is certainly not a good practice if true, it also could be some sort of glitch. Since I have not seen news of this anywhere I will reserve judgment until then. Hopefully not true, though, for the sake of Destiny players.
