They tried to get some phone sales via false advertising. Oh Sony....

Just for the record, my Xperia Z3 Compact hasn't suffered a bit from using underwater so far. I haven't used it underwater too much but I've done it a bit and it hasn't been a problem. And considering how little people have complained, I'd say their phones are able to be used underwater but there might be some rare problems with it. Also, even the page specifically mentions non-fresh water as a problem, so there's that too. (Doesn't mention the safety of fresh water either though, so...)

There's definitely a problem with the advertising though. You can't have an official guideline of not using the device underwater while advertising the device using material where it is shown working underwater. One of them has to go.

It seems people with these phones can take pics underwater without problem. Now, the fact that they don't recommend it it's funny

Doesn't really matter. It's only waterproof so you can watch your animes and porn in the bathtub.

Wait what? I've recorded video underwater and taken pictures with my z1 and Z3+. I assume this is to cover their backs if something goes wrong

It's probably best not to advertise your product doing something you don't recommend doing with your device.
