Bit different. TLOU was effectively a cross gen game. The Pokemon Red/Blue remakes were... actual full remakes.

I was talking about Pokémon Yellow though. TP was a cross-gen game, TLOU wasn't.

Oh. Well Yellow isn't the same as Red/Blue, it's quite a bit different actually.

TLOU was a cross gen game. It can be given all the fancy 'remaster' titles but it is still just a year late port of a game.

It's barely any different. Same overworld, same Pokémon, same graphics, same sound/music and same story (but with Jessie & James added in). The main difference is the starter Pokémon, that is not quite a bit different (and you can get the original 3 starters from NPCs later down the road).

Actually, some Pokemon from RGB like Electabuzz and Magmar can't be found be found in Yellow. Also, some gym leader battles are different. They are not big changes, but they are changes nonetheless.

The brand name and consoles are undoubtedly more famous but Nintendo games run circles around Sony's attempts at memorable franchises

you phrase that like if that is the case with their newer franchises

when you really look at it nintendo's memorable characters are the ones that are decades old - obviously mario, link, donkey kong

what new characters have nintendo created that are as popular as say kratos?

nintendo's iconic characters became iconic in the era when there was no competition where they were the main company pushing gaming and i believe that is why they have the status they do today

well Villager and Mii's can run circles around any PlayStation character

XBOX ONE/Wii U/3DS/PC

RIP Iwata 12/6/1959-7/11/2015

Thanks for all the great memories!

People really don´t understand the word iconic, they are thinking on the word popular instead.

Many of the users like you seem to think we're comparing mascots when it's about the brands themselves. Playstation has become the symbol/icon of gaming a while ago.  How revelent a brand is in the market matters because it's about which brand is more iconic.

In order for something to remain the symbol of an entire industry, it has to remain popular or revelent otherwise it becomes just the icon of days long since passed.  Everyone knows of nintendo and it's mascots but not many gamers actually want to experience it's games. it's no different than the music that old people listen to. It is completely out of touch with gaming of today and has become less iconic than playstation.

Icon, a person or thing regarded as a representative symbol of something.

More people than sony's games at least, lol. Does Sony even have a single ten million+ selling franchise?

People have to buy nintendo's hardware to play it's games last time I checked. Nintendo's home consoles generally sell horribly compared to the competition.

How many of nintendo's home consoles sold over 100 million? The wii u will be lucky to break past 20 or even 15 million.

Nintendo hasn't lead the very market it pretty much created in a long time. How can it be the symbol or the face of gaming?

if you really believe that then you are pretty delusional

i stand by what i said, if nintendo's iconic characters had never been created before now, they would be completely overshadowed by the characters we have in gaming today that are far more interesting

their popularity hinges completely on the time they were created

Why are we ignoring handhelds again?

GBA was 3 years on the market before it got replaced, but it could hold its own against the "mighty" PS2 during those 3 years. GB did break the 100 million barrier as did the DS and the Wii. So that's 3 consoles, almost 4. One more than Sony.

One, the wii (3 if we count handhelds)

Sony has 2 (PSX - PS2)

And they sold 250 milions of consoles LAST GENERATION, that´s about the same as PsX and Ps2 combined, and you talk about them as if they were irrelevant for decades? you guys forguet what you want to forget, is especially annoying the way you all deny what happened last generation.

No one is ignoring handhelds. These are two different markets entirely. Handhelds is a dying market compared to consoles anyway. No one even knows if Nintendo will make both a handheld and a console.

The wii was a fluke that happened to catch the interest of casuals and you guys know that. It wasn't a mario or zelda that caught their attention. It was wii sports.

For me at least, the PlayStation logo is FAR more iconic than the Nintendo one. It's all about the branding, man...Sony owns gaming right now!
