OK, here's my update:

Just got back to Sarif Industries after the first boss fight. I'm playing complete stealth and pacifist specialising in melee and stun gun. Leading up to this point:

- Got the Old school gamer achievement again (I didn't do this the last time I played the DC, but got it on the original game)

- Let Zeke go and saved everyone at the plant

- Hacked into everyone's office at Sarif and got access to the storage room by the helipad

- Completed the quest for Jenny Alexander with all the evidence, getting into DRB without being seen and capturing the gangsters and final bad guy; all non-lethal of course!

- Completed the quest for Megan's mother but kept the bracelet (there's an achievement for this before anyone thinks me heartless )

- Took the totally empathetic route for the Sanders questline

- This is the first time I'm playing with the CASIE mod this early. It's had its uses and such as getting into the police station, but not as useful as I thought it might be. I seemed to have pissed Haas off which hasn't happened in my previous playthroughs, but he still let me in. I'll be interested to see if this has an effect later on.

Boss fight:

I actually had a lot of fun with this. The Director's Cut versions are just a lot better than in the original. Even on the hardest difficulty, they're lots of alternative routes. Not perfect, but a lot better than they were. First, I used a couple of concussion grenades and fired off a few headshots with the Revolver, before running to the second floor via a ladder. I hacked the terminal to open the locked door. Sneaked my way to the now open door, broke into the office and hacked another terminal to activate a couple of turrets, then placed them at flanking point and let them finish him off!

Will update more after a few more chapters.

I really wanted to kill those two drug dealers, mostly because they had such stupid names.

Also, I really, really want to turn head bobble off because it's making me feel sick and it's given me a headache.

Jensen's inability to fall short distances without dying is pretty remarkable.

Get Icarus landing system. Not only does it solve that issue, it also looks cool

It's also really useful for getting access to areas later in the game. I think you need it if you want to find all the scholar e-books

Alright, here comes a big update from my front.

First of all, I'm going to have to make some calls so that the participants get back here. Most of them are lagging behind in their updates, and that, my people, is a no-no. :P

Second of all, I've finished everything up to the first boss, who I already defeated (I'll get to this later), and now I was confronting Sarif. I won the conversation, and I must say, not having the social enhancer makes everything more exciting, albeit challenging. You have to rely more on what the person tells you than listening to the clues the CASIE gives you.

Remember, guys (this is specially because of what happened to episteme): CHECK JENSEN'S COMPUTER AFTERWARDS

Going back to the update:

- I managed to finish all the missions in the Detroit the first time you're around there. Regarding Megan's mother, I chose to keep the bracelet. Also managed to talk my way into Jensen's former friend, and the hooker and scientist sidequest, too. I'm kind of playing as a hoarder, so I try to nab everything I can and stuff it into my inventory. My first praxis purchases have been upgrading the whole space of it, so that I have no issues (for now. This game has some serious inventory management issues).

- Managed to do the mission without killing any soldiers, albeit I blew up a robot with a PEM grenade and the explosion killed one. Dunnu if it counts; his fault, though. You can't just rush toward a malfunction robot and not expect the worst to happen.

- The boss. OH MY GOD. I knew this moment was coming, but still...bleh. Killed me six or seven times, then I managed to get around him by throwing him those explosive barrels - all of them - then getting close and personal with a magnum. Pacifist characters are seriously fucked when dealing with these dudes. On a side note, my inventory is full of chocolate. Me love some energetic chocolate bars. Also a bit of whisky. And painkillers, I look like a goddamn Max Payne.

Some random thoughts after finishing the first mission:

Tranq rife is OP. Seriously.

Deus Ex, like so many games with RPG elements, is a lot harder at the beginning than at the end. I've always found that kind of funny.

I'm going heavy into hacking, which means I'm already dreading the first boss.

What weapon is everyone using as their main? I'm going Tranq and will probably upgrade a 10mm through the roof. Not sure if I'll bother with anything else. I loved the sniper rifle last time I played but it's too big to carry around.

You have to consider Adam Jensen was supposed to be the ultimate soldier, but Sarif ran out of time when augmenting him, hence why you have to use all these praxis things. Imagine if you had everything unlocked from the get-go.

I'm using almost full melee. The only times I have to use a weapon - the stun gun, and the SEPE - is because I'm surrounded and don't have enough batteries to deal with everyone.

So, I finished the Missing Link episode. It's good overall, but the backtracking is pretty bad and the security scans are annoying as fuck.

Oh, and there's a way to save both the prisoners and Kavanagh.

If you wasted your praxis points for abilities that aren't very useful in the DC before the Missing Link (starting on the ship), don't worry.

Not having the Missing Link myself, I've heard you can deal with the boss anyway you want.

It sounds like you're playing through in a very similar vein to me. It also sounds like you're not playing the Director's Cut considering the boss fight . The DC version really does go a long way to improving and equalising the fights for other play styles. I probably could have completed it without firing a shot or throwing a grenade.

The boss in Missing Link is more what I'd expect from a Deus Ex game. I think there's actually an achievement for knocking him out instead of killing him.

Also, the reasoning they give for having to use praxis points is that Adam is still recovering from nearly dying 6 months earlier. Having them unlocked would supposedly do more damage than good.

God i hate that turret gun! :-@

Update #1: So far, i took them down all thugs with stealth, then i found that Zeke Sanders. Guess what? I drew my pistol then killed him about 4 shots in the head. And yeah Jossie is saved!

Update #2: Just finished the 2nd mission. Wayne made me go through behind police department with crate & barrel to jump off... And there were a lot of cops!

Don't hate the turrent gun.  I'll never again speak ill of the turrent gun after it helped me kill the hardest boss.

So about 1/4th of the time, my tranq rifle kills the target. Huh.

You sure you aren't using the sniper rifle?

Also, the environment can kill people. I did a non-lethal takedown only to have the guy fall into the sewer and die.

My thoughts on the first mission.

When I played this, I expected a cyberpunk Fallout (Which I've never played). Because of this, I tried going commando on the guards. Big mistake, because the gunplay is terrible. I didn't survive that. Then I realized this was cyberpunk Splinter Cell. So I went for a lethal approach, which took a long time because I kept dying. So I started doing nonlethal takedowns, because it was stealthier. Also, I somehow almost missed the hostages. Luckily, I remembered they existed and explored the place. I searched the place like 10 times before I found them. How long will this game be? It took me 1 hour and 27 minutes from the beginning to this mission. I'd like to know how long it is.

I think I'll start to play this too. I'm kinda in the middle of FFIX though.

From twenty to sixty hours, depending on how invested you want to be on the game. :P
