At least for TLOU, I'm fairly certain that had the numbers on VGC been correct, it would end up ahead of Frogger. Because Sony confirmed 6 million sold as of march 14th 2013, and 7 million sold  as of july 16th 2013. More than likely it is past 8 million wordlwide by now, on PS3 alone.

I actually didn't know those were VGC numbers in the OP, so that makes a lot more sense, lol.

People want Sony 3D platformers! No knack about that.

Very nice work!

That GTA dominance! Does make you wonder how much of an impact the rise of Xbox had though. The mentioned Madden decline is almost definitely due to the Xbox at the very least.

Madden decline is due to NFL exclusivity. After EA won that, the product was destined to become stale and decline.

ugh. The games sold around 4 million from 2003 to 2006, but declined with the PS3 transition, with the low point seeming to be 2011, when the annual iteration failed to reach 2 million

Declined with the PS3 transition, ya know around the same time the X360 release and it declining on PS was definitely due to it selling more on Xbox. And also, from 2003-2006 when it was at its highest it sold around 4 million. Yet the low oint FOR PS was 2011? PS+Xbox combined it still sold 4.28m in 2011. Additionally 'Madden NFL 15 suggests the series is recovering' because the PS4 is beating the Xbox One. So obviously a larger portion of the sales will be on PS systems this gen than they were last gen.

So yeah, Madden sales on PS systems declined because the Xbox came along and a lot of people started buying them there instead.

I'm pretty sure that if you take a look at the install base for Gamecube, Xbox and PS2 in 2004, then compare it to 2013, or whatever year you'd like, you'd see that the attach rate for Madden back then was much, much higher.

GTA and COD really sold a ton on Playstation. really massive fanbase there.

You should do this for Xbox and Nintendo as well. :D

Nintendo might be difficult with the lack of NES and SNES data, but Xbox sounds like a fun idea. Maybe I could also throw in a comparison with this...

You don't have to add those in and you can use that excuse for Nintendo.

I'd just still love to see both. :P

So? Attach rate doesn't scale. More console owners =/= more Madden fans.

It scales because it shows the percentage of core gamers that are interested in a particular game.

Best GTA, SA, on top! Yeah boyyeee!

Well for one thing Madden is much more of a mainstream game than core.

But even so it still doesn't scale.

If 40% of console owners loved game (X) in 2004 and 5% of console owners love the game now, that's a decrease of 35%. And as for Madden not being a core game, I'd say it is because if it wasn't, then you'd be lumping it in with Wii Fitness or Kinect Sports. The pro Madden community is just as passionate and intense as any communitry within gaming. They take that game very seriously and know the game at a microscopic level.

If Madden isn't "core", then you're going to need to invent a new gerne because it's not casual.
