Most companies will not fire you straight away if the breach isn't to damaging. They will give you the option to save face and walk away (i.e. so you remain employable) within the next couple weeks. If you ignore it then they wll fire you. I have seen many people at my previous companies just suddenly walk away because of such incidents. One guy didn't take the hint and was escorted out.

No, most good companies would just warn you.

Have you ever worked for a company of this nature?

This is the same case as Kevin Butler, both breached contract and lost their jobs.

I thought his contract just expired?

I haven't watched the video, but it sounds like it was an NDA violation. If he was divulging non-public information about his employer without their consent, I'm actually pretty surprised that he was...well, surprised. I don't even work in marketing/PR, and I've had to take several training courses on this.

That being said...I do feel sympathetic for the guy. If the information wasn't damaging, a termination shouldn't be necessary in my eyes. But maybe I'm just being sentimental. From a corporate perspective, I don't think Nintendo was really in the wrong (nor most companies with agreements like this), but it's kinda sad to remove someone so passionate about their legacy.

I feel termination for talking on a podcast is a little over the top. Probation, suspension, forced leave of absence... These are all better ways to tell him "This is something you DON'T do."

Cliffy doesn't even know the full store and has no right to be criticizing Nintendo for this. If Pranger knew that Nintendo doesn't allow you to go on Podcasts without permission then it is his own fault

Good thing that they are slowing retiring out of the console space.

I am both witty and clever.

He screwed up, he knows Nintendo is anal as hell. They are the worst of the big three at relations and collaboration. They are stuck in the past. He chose to work for them and signed a contract, so he should've known better.

This happens at any big company...
