Forums - Gaming - Peter Moore on Battlefront: Data says very few people play SP on these kinds of games

Makes sense. I guess this way, the devs can instead focus on having a truly expansive multiplayer instead.

Wait, what do you mean the game is only going to have 12 maps from three or four planets? The original game from 2004 had 16 maps from 10 planets! What's that, there's DLC a few weeks later? Only for people who pre-order, and even then you are only on par with the original, and still lack the visual variety. And Battlefront 2 had about 30 maps without counting Space-themed ones.

Some of the things they add are cool, like customizable characters, but the entire package does not seem that more complex than the original, let alone the sequel. And for a game released a decade later, with no proper single player, that is a load of *********.

I can't decide what I think is worse the new stars battlefront or episode 7.

i (almost) only play single player games...

...which is why i've never purchased a CoD or BF game before and wasn't about to start now. there are tons of games that are single player focused. there is nothing wrong with having an occasional mp focused game too.

I'll not be purchasing this because it doesn't have single player.

Nintendo is selling their IPs to Microsoft and this is true because:

There is certain games I buy mainly for online play but having an epic single player campaign in "these type of games" is fairly essential imo. When this was announced I expected a good single player campaign and hopefully a good online to play casually, Since that's not the case I will likely skip this at least for the time being.

First, this is an awesome thread. The title only has half the quote and it's pretty clear half the people responding didn't even glance at the actual content of the article, which is amazing considering how short it is.

Bravo.

As for the quote itself, “very few people actually play the single-player on these kinds of games,” I admit that I don't know myself, as I don't play many of those titles. Last FPS multi-player I got into was Killzone 3, which I bought for the single-player. I'd love to see his data for this. I'd guess that he's right for CoD and Battlefront, though. I know people who've never booted up the single-player campaign.

Personally, I have no real problem with his reasoning. It's not like I get outraged if someone makes a single-player game and leaves out multi-player, so I'd feel like a hypocrite for protesting this. Multi-player only games have as much a right to live as single-player only.

On the other hand, without single-player content, I'm probably not going to consider this game. That's just my personal preference.
