Forums - Sony - [RUMOR] PS4 firmware update 3.0 details leak (and it's mainly social crap)

PS4 browser is so fekking useless it basically acts as its own harmful content block.

The browser war is real!

Thats not the main new features for a full version increment. That would be a 2.75 update...

Even the 2.5 update had something meaty.

Two questions for those who have a PS4, can you have folders yet? Also, do you get notifications when friends come online? Those two things drove me nuts.

No and no. Having no folders make everything disorganized and time consuming.

I don't mind the social thing, but I would really love it if they add folders. This feels like the time when PS3 owners kept asking for the PS3 controller charge be displayed next to the time instead of over it.

I honestly don't care for any of those.

I do wonder when we are going to get folders. That is the feature I want the most.

First of all, when thousands of people on the internet want those features they are pretty significant. Changing our PSN name has been requested since the PS3 launched and is currently the leading suggestion on the PlayStation website, and Friend log-in notifications is 5th (not counting those already In Action): http://share.blog.us.playstation.com/ideas/popular/

Also, you think PS1 and PS2 BC is coming? Just watch Sony milk that shit with PS Now. Sure it would be an amazing feature to play your PS1 and PS2 discs and your PS1 and PS2 digital classics, but Sony can't even be arsed to put in the most simple of features. Sony is doing a piss poor job with Firmware updates, nobody can deny that. Seriously, how the fuck does Sony come up with the list in the OP after 6 months?!

While PS1/2 hardware BC is never coming, I don't see them ever having PSNow for PS1/PS2 games. Especially not without PS1/2 digital classics for PS4.

nothing I care for,but I guess something is better then nothing.

That's really bad. I have heard that Sony usually releases more than just what's on these rumored leaked lists, but it's still horrible.

I am still amazed that a lot of the things that a lot of things that were there on the PS3 OS are not there for PS4. Hopefully they are building to scale and PS5 will use the PS4's OS. That's why the XBO OS is so far ahead of the PS4 right now.

Another minus is that, for some odd reason, SCE insists on having SCEJ do the OS by themselves with no help from SCEA and SCEE, sorry but that's beyond stupid.

I bet you thats coming in 3.0. Theyd get more money from ps classics than from putting them on ps now.

Yeah, folders was my NUMBER ONE gripe when I had a PS4. Such a nice, slick, fast UI but totally cluttered when you have a bunch of games. It's ridiculous to have to scroll all the way left like that lol

I had both PS4 and Xbox One, so I can truly appreciate which one has what. I'll add to your list.

-XOne can play CDs

-XOne has BC

-XOne has notifications when friends come online

-XOne has unlimited cloud saves (pretty big deal for me because my little 1GB PS4 limit was reached in less than a year.)

-XOne does not cap download speeds on high end connections. (or, at least mine doesn't.)

There's probably more, but that's all I can think of right now. PS4 has some things that Xbox One should have as well, like installing games while the system is turned off, or installing them more quickly, but yeah... just thought I'd add on to your initial post.

The first one is false because it is not unlimited... it is 256GB.
The second because there is nothing related with the console about connections speeds... both will work at the same speed if they are in the same connection condictions... what happens are issues related to blackbones or even NAT that is specific about console/connection (and yes I hear more issues about Xbone crap download speeds than PS4... NAT issues too but I know it is not console fault).

But you are entering in a list war situtaion where I can list dozen of features that PS4 have and Xbone not... it is useless because Xbone is still way behind in OS features than PS4.

The others points are valids considerations... to be fair the friend notification is critial and the others only low features requests.

Well, when I had a PS4, using the same brand new configured router, it would cap out at around.. I think 25 down. On my Xbox One, it shows 60 down, which is what I am getting from my provider. The Wii-U is the same thing. For whatever reason, Sony and Nintendo are capping the speeds, or not allowing anything over a certain speed. Either that, or they don't play nice with my connection, but that doens't make any sense because the Xbox One runs full blast without any adjustments.

As for the cloud storage, are you sure?

I'm pretty sure it's unlimited cloud storage.
