Forums - Sony - Sony says it’s ‘very likely’ more remasters are coming

I predict GwG is going to offer 360 games that are compatible with the BC. That will encourage millions average joes to play 360 games on their X1.

Millions of people are going to get free 360 with their purchase of new X1 games as well.

Didn't they already confirm that at their Gamescom press conference?

Yes, they did. Microsoft has revealed that all future Games With Gold titles will be backwards compatible from launch, so Xbox Live Gold members will receive those titles for free.

with call of duty marketing and so many remaster, sony is really going all in for that xb360 audience...

It doesn't hurt me in any way but it is starting to get a bit ridiculous if this continues. At least, I understand remakes of old games like FF 7. But remasters of games just a couple of years old screams easy money to me, and seem quite unnecessary.

I know I can just ignore them so it's not like I'm offended by their existence or anything. I just think it's an odd development.

Wii U is pretty much dependent on Mario games. Anyhow, Wii U is different aiming for a different audinece... people that still want Mario games and it hasn't been enough to make the Wii U a success.

Each recurring PS4 franchise should be selling better, but what keeping that from happening is the games aren't very good. The Order for example, that should have been huge. If it wasn't a bad game that would have been a great success for Sony. PS4 has the audience to move a ton of 1st party software but lacks the quality.

X1 has better exclusives and its moving exclusive software at par with PS4. That wouldn't be if Sony was doing better with its games.

Nonesense.

Sells don't determine quality.

If sells determine quality then you say Gran Turismo is better than Forza and Call of Duty is better than Halo.

Then if Micro would be doing better with their games they would be selling Xbones on par with the PS4, but they aren't.

You brought this same senseless argument before, you only want to discard Sony's first party games with your agenda.

Nintendo is selling their IPs to Microsoft and this is true because:

Of course more will come, its easy money for them.

Personally, I couldn't careless... Unless it was Twisted Metal black being remade or remastered. All their other first part IPs, I find uninteresting.

I like twisted metal, god of war and uncharted, but some of those sony ips feel like it is trying to be more like a movie than a game.

Its case by case. Sales can vary based on size of userbase, audience interest, marketing, etc.

I just played Sunet Overdrive and its pretty damn good. But it likely did poor due to both small userbase and lack of interest from the Xbox audience. The game itself is quality stuff and could have been a hit on PS4.

Now The Order could have been a multi million selling IP already... if Sony made something at par with Gears of War. Instead its found its place in obscurity and the bargain because it sucks.

Killzone and Infamous have respectable numbers on PS4 but could have performed better if Sony delivered better games.

As Ive said many times before people arent buying PS4 for its exclusives. The people buying PS4 want 3rd party multiplat games. X1 has the superior attach rate on exclusives. Again, Sony needs to make better exclusives and I expect that to happen in 2016.

1) You come here and pass judgement in quality based on your individual opinion, which is just one. You want to come here and say when a game deserved more sales and when a game doesn't based on whether you like it or not. Proved by point number 3.

Either the best selling console/videogame is always the best one, or you can't discard other possible explanations like you do in point number 3 and must accept COD and Gran Turismo superiority over Halo and Forza, you can't make exception out of your own convenience and personal enjoyment of games.

2) Point number 2 makes sense and it is pretty much the explanation behind videogame sales, not perceived quality. When it comes to videogames quality, people buy certain videogames because of personal interest, and in certain occasions a whole lot of people coincide and share interest for certain games in particular for various reasons, other games which may be very good may fade into the bottom of the sales pit in spite of how good they are. Sales don't determine the quality of videogames.

4) People are buying PS4 for it's exclusives. Sony has made a brand with blood and sweat over the years and people bet on PlayStation. The strnegth of PS allowed Sony to make the greatest comeback in the history of videogames and has allowed them to get back on top of the videogame console sales. They have grown a big fanbase which is there and has allowed them to be the dominant console in almost every generation throughout Sony's videogame history. PlayStation fans know their favorite exclusives came and are coming.

Attach rates go down as userbases go up, you have no certain way of telling how much higher or lower the total number of exclusive game sales on X1/PS4 would be if the situation was reversed, all you have are total current sales, Gears for instance didn't suddenly jump in sales on 360 once its later iterations released to much bigger audiences. That is also of course ignoring the questions of vgchartz accuracy, downloadable sales and legs, as I'm pretty sure that all of those will be pretty significant factors for current PS4/X1 exclusives I'd say this discussion is based completely on assumptions.

More games? Those bastards.

More games that can be played on PS4, you mean. Because this doesn't mean there are going to be more games. If anything, this means there are going to be less new games because teams that could be working on brand-new games are working on remastering old games instead.

I cannot think of a better example of bias of perspective than what you said about Sunset Overdrive and Infamous.

You said Sunset Overdrive didn't sell that well because of user base and consumer intrest but tha Infamous only did okay because of the quality of the game.

Infamous and Sunset Overdrive have metacritic scores that are one point apart and the user score for Infamous is actually higher than Sunset Overdrives.
