Every game does.

Every game does.

Skyrim was GOTG to many and that game was just an awful buggy mess. Clearly people need higher standards. Only then can Splatoon win. |
Hmmm... yeah, no. It's really not worthy of any major gaming award.

It sure is the first experience of its kind on a Nintendo platform but for me it doesn't feel that different from many other experiences I've had on the PS3/360 and PC.

Neither are the games that get those gaming awards.
"ohh my gurdddd, it's open world, never seen something like that, 10/10 goty!"
Why bother with terms like Goty or GOTG when people only think open world games should get those awards.

Sure, but I mean it has too many to be gotg

I don't care for open world games. I'll agree Skyrim didn't deserve it. But I really don't see any point in engaging me, Samus. You'll not convince me that Splatoon is a GotY or GotG game.

How do you explain Skyrim then? That game has more bugs than Splatoon has sales.
I think most people believe that a game has to be big and mature to deserve a GOTY/GOTG, while fun, different and "little" games are dismissed quickly. I'm not talking only about Splatoon, some user said before Rocket League and I think it can be a contender too. Or Shovel Knight, To the Moon... etc. etc.

Faults are more than bugs and glitches. They can be found in design choices, gameplay, content, etc.

Well I don't have to explain Skyrim because that was never goty for me. I really like the series, but e en with the bugs, the combat was the weakest part of that game. It shouldn't have won goty awards that year imo, but obviously a lot of people thought it should. As for Splatoon it just doesn't do enough for me to get above an 8/10.
