Just remember guys, this is the future of the beautiful Fox Engine

sounds plausible. I can a situation where he got too big and got carried away with himself. That said, he obsession sure makes for some fantastic games.

Seems like conflicting with him wasn't that great of a business decision either.

Perfectionists are not good for any company from a budget standpoint. These kind of people should get a certain budget and if they want to add something they should do it with their own money. Perfectionists rarely finish any projects, unless they are skilled at the craftsmanship of the art and thus, cutting the time to develop the art = less money spent.

I am a Nintendo fanatic.

It's obvious at this point that Konami can't or doesn't want to deal with Kojima's level of investments. That might have worked like charm during PS1/PS2 eras, but everyone knows development prices have skyrocketed. This split is good for Kojima if he wants to keep his artistic freedom. Sony fans obviously want him to go with Sony, but their financials woes will hold him back. I think there's only one company with deep enough pockets to truly fulfill Kojima's visions: Microsoft.

Ok, I accept that the only reason I want to see Kojisoft is for the massive fanboy meltdown. It would be glorious. >:)

Sony's financial woes would prevent them from working with Kojima on a project? Dafuq?

I could totally see Sony letting him run one of their projects. The guy likes to get paid, yes. of course. But it seems having creative freedom is what gives him his jollies.

MS is everything ANTI creative freedom (Ask Rare how much they have enjoyed their creative freedom the past 15 years). Do you really think MS would have green lit some of the games Sony has put out through Media Molecule, ND, and others. NO they would have doubled down on PD and we would have a Gran Tourismo every year. (Rotating GT and GT Horizon of course), Uncharted would be an FPS. The Last of Us would be a dead Island clone.

I am half joking. But seriously the comment about Sony not being able to afford one guy is too funny.

Wonder why he talked about GTAV.

Around the Network

My personal experience as an ex employee of Konami back in their heydays (Back when i was still a lowly dime a dozen programmer!) is basically this.
Kojima and the games he made became their bread and butter outside of mobile and arcade games, regardless of how much time Kojima spent on games of the fox engine, as such an integral part of the companies portfolio, he was well worth it.

This attitude from Konami follows through with the attitude of several months of near-lunacy PR moves and industry choices by Konami towards it's own staff and stinks to me of pinning all of their problems and their 2015 bad press on Kojima and his team as a means to lump responsibility away from themselves.

Kojima wanted to try new things away from Metal gear, but had little choice because Konami wanted their metal gear milk money and they wanted it now, Kojima ventured into salvaging the bastardized silent hill franchise but Konami saw this as distracting from the goal of getting MGSV on to shelves and started systematically restricting the team to funnel them in to doing only what they wanted done, do a point where things fell apart.

And now they have fallen apart, and Konami are going to spend the new several months on the defensive "revealing" various "issues" that paint anyone but themselves in a bad light to salvage whats left of their brand.

Frankly, Konami can feck off and go bankrupt, let it's IP's be picked up by more capable companies who are willing to make the proper initial investment on projects.

Too bad Kojima doesn't work for Nintendo.

I hope Konami will go bankruptcy and then beg Kojima to come back!
