DQ's fanbase is mainly located in Japan. Japan games mostly on handhelds. So yeah, A PS4 DQ game would be skipping the dedicated handheld where most of the fans are. That makes no sense for a company to do.

Then they should probably also make it for mobile by that logic because that's where the industry is shifting to in Japan.

If they can somehow make it work well why not?

So you're saying they can't make a Dragon Quest title for a home console without being biased against Nintendo. hahahaha.

All these Japanese Devs releasing titles on the vita instead of the 3ds must be biased too, it makes no sense. The 3ds install base is so much larger. Just why would they do that unless they hate nintendo!!!

We're talking about Dragon Quest, not other games or developers. Perhaps do a little bit of research about the franchise and the Japanese gaming market before you make such posts.

Underestimating the sales potential of the DQ series in the west is the biggest issue with people claiming only the 3DS is the logical choice. Square Enix has bigger eyes than ever before and Japan isn't enough. They key to the west isn't on handhelds and they want to make DQ a global franchise.

Because people want to feel better about the system they bought, so they'll say that they hope it's exclusive to the system they have/prefer.

I hope it ends up being on everything, include the Xbox One in there while you're at it as well. It could actually give it a bit of a boost in Japan.

Because we already know it's in development for home consoles and each numbered version is usually exclusive to a platform on release.

Except everything they did with the franchise the last two decades suggests otherwise. They haven't even localized DQ VII on the 3DS yet!

MH4U sold better in the West than any other MH game before. Why could the same not be done on the 3DS? For far cheaper costs and bigger profits as well.

Because there's simply no way that a PS4 DQ game will make as much profit on the 3DS. I'm sure people will try to bring "The West" argument into this debate, but they're ignoring the fact that DQ has never been big in the West and MH4U on the 3DS is the fastest selling MH game in the West to date. So it's not like third party games in the West are doomed to fail on the 3DS...

... But you are not considering the fact the SE IS DEDICATED to re establishing the Japan CONSOLE market. They also announced that they would be shifting to PS4 development. Hori himself was more than plesed with DQ heroes that nearly dropped the bomb then and there. What should that tell you about how SE will handle their popular IP release. 

Do NOT set yourself up for disappointment.
