What an absolutely bizarre time to announce thsi.

I was thinking the same thing. You'd assume a "don't announce other potential platforms until the X1 version is out" clause would be an auto include in something like this. Regardless, the news isn't particularly surprising, but it's nice to finally have confirmation.

Now we can all let this topic rest. Right guys?

this is so freaking stupid

"yay let's delay the game a year on PS4" who thought this would be a good idea should be fired

Actually, it was a brilliant idea because it is very different from what you say. It was more like Microsoft walked in with a huge cheque and said 'release on Xbox first and all this money is yours'. Now they still get to sell the game on every platform as well as getting a huge upfront payment. The only people this is bad for is Microsoft (waste of money) and non-Xbox gamers.

it all just depends on how much MS gave them. id imagine it would have to be at least $50million for it to work out better to delay the ps4 at pc releases. but we will probably never know how much MS gave them. and if this deal was a net gain or loss

This is just prove what ever money hating Microsoft will be, it will be pointless now, thanks to SONY world total domination on console Industry except on SONY side of course there is always a favor for a consoles that lead sales .

I'm starting to enjoy this announcement.

Supporters be like "1 year Time Exclusivity is a good deal, gamers would lose interest in the PS4 ver by then"

Non-supporters be like "1 year Time Exclusivity is a waste of money, gamers would now wait for the PC/PS4 ver down the line"

Everyone else "Why make the announcement now?"

ROFL!

gamers will definetly wait which one is better and they will wait until PS4 version out and compare , and of course holiday is a big days on gaming, so Most gamer will definetly wait for holiday and that's will be a big mistakes for Microsoft afterall.

Wow, this went better than I expected. So much for the "it will only be 6 months anyway"-talk ;)

A full year is quite massive. Not comparable to what Sony did once to the franchise but still a lot.

We just have to live with companies buying (or the new term "supporting") games so that the competition doesn't get it. It happened many times before and will happen in the future. The only thing that determines whether these deals are good or not is if your favorite company does it or your most hated one.

If you're going to take a jab at people that were expecting it within 6 months, why not also those that said it would never happen? :p

This was an unexpected announcement. I mean, why announce this a few months before it comes out on X1? People won't buy an X1 for Tomb Raider if they know for sure that it will come out in 2016 on other platforms.

And a 1 year wait for PS4 owners is too long.

Exactly, this takes me back to when Capcom did the same thing to Nintendo with RE 4 by announcing a port for PS2 before the GC game was released. Why do they let fan pressure get in the way of legit business deals I wonder?

Its not a surprise, In Square Enix's situation they cant afford to limit there games on a couple platforms. 1 Year wait for PS4 is a bit long, I thought maybe 6 months but 1 year is a little too late for me to consider that version. Especially since the X1 version is already running 1080p.

The very probable reason why SE announced the release date for the PS4 version now, of all times, is because the one year delay will presumably mean more sales since anyone waiting for the game isn't going to want to wait that long.

The only problem with this line of reasoning, is that it depends upon those potential buyers either already owning an XBO, which has the smaller user base by far, or buying an XBO within the following year to play the game.

There were any that did so? Seriously, even if there were, way more people were bitching around that MS did it and said it won't be long anyway. It's hard to find cherries in the mud at night ;)
