Not really when you look at the PS2 Xbox gap. Or by how much PS1 was ahead in its generation. Compared to those it just looks even.

The Nintendo 64 was selling better than the PS1 firsts month. Even by a lot. Not only, it was selling better even than the XBO and very close with PS4.

AFTER 30 MONTH:

  • PS2 - 17,199,692
  • N64 - 10,980,990
  • XBOX - 8,600,581
  • PS - 8,419,373
  • GC - 7,386,869
  • DS - 4,069,265

Not talking about the beginning of those gens. He said that with where the gap ended up in the US last gen, 700k is massive.

The gap in USA is currently 600-700k - considering where Sony were last gen and the gap that they ended up (was it something like over 12m+) then even sony being in front by 700k is massive.

Youtube videos are international, the gap is massive, if we move away from NPD, then that youtube gap totally reflects what's going on worldwide in terms of XBO and PS4. Unfortunately many people get so focussed on USA because that and the UK are the only places where XBO is within a reasonable gap number, everywhere else it's a bloodbath....

Launches aligned the 360 was only about 900k ahead in the US at the same point in time.

1. I don't understand the relevance of what you're trying to say to me here.

2. Supply was low.

2. If you are seriously trying to make me believe that 360 supply was limited for over 1 1/2 years in the beginning of its life then you must really think I'm stupid.

It's not huge but is not a joke... expecially if we considering that the XBO cost less.

But thats what I am saying, last gen it ended up being 12m+ difference, at the moment the PS4 is 770k infront... which is massive for the PS4... If it continues like this (which at the moment there is no reason to suggest otherwise), the XBO will be 12m+ down on what the 360 was, while the PS4 will be up 12m. Taking into account the rest of the world where the gap is 3, 4, even more :1 then thats why it's a big difference).

Sorry if it's not clear, but i think you get the point that even if MS close that 770k gap or even go slightly ahead, the PS4 if it followed last gens path would be 12m to the better, but as the point i was trying to make the rest of the world isnt following last gen, it's heavily in favour of PS4... so it should turn out into a massive worldwide difference.

I really think MS might move to the next gen sooner rather than later... 5 years max, they'll want to move on from this disaster imho.

Making an indie game : Dead of Day!

Outsold what? Like a couple thousand with trade in deals and a free game? This means nothing. I'm sure theyve won weeks before and lost the month. The other two weeks without the bundle Sony won as well. I'm sure Xbox only won by like 2000 or so.

You say that but I can't ever see MS allowing XB1 to be outsold in the US over 30 months in a row. The gap will not be the same as 360 PS3 because MS goes all out for its holidays.

Well I didn't understand what you were trying to say. But ok, like I said in the previous post MS wouldn't allow the same thing that happened to PS3 happen to XB1. Halo 3 launched and sent 360 soaring. Halo 5 can lessen the gap.

From what I read from different sources they don't track bundles.

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1000991

Q: Does The NPD Group track bundles?

A:
In the Top 10 list that is released to the public on the 2nd Thursday of the month, The NPD Group does not include bundles.

This distorts the real Top 10 (accounting for all software sales in the physical retail market). For example, in the public January 2015 Top 10 list, Assassin's Creed Unity would have been in the Top 10 list if bundles were included, because the majority of its sell-through was realised through bundle sales.

The NPD Group only reports the exact sales of universally-available manufacturer bundles / limited editions. Sales of retailer-exclusive hardware bundles / software bundles / limited editions are not reported because they reveal exact sell-through at a particular retailer, and retailers want to keep their exact sell-through data private.

NPD only tracks what you paid for.

PS4 bundle you are paying for the console... so the bundle is counted in the hardware section.

The Batman game is free in the bundle... so it is not counted in the software section.

That is why the TOP10 software didn't include bundles but the hardware numbers includes.

Ah, thanks for explaining that.
