Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Fire Emblem Fates over sexualization is really off putting imo (pics)

Nintendo has been pushing oversexualization quite a lot for some time now, especially in their 3rd party exclusive games it's pretty obvious.

Oversexualisation!? Geez, did someone turn back the clock to the 19th century or what's happening here?

What's happening is that tons of japanese games feel the need to put skimpy outfits and big tits into their games, Nintendo isn't an exception here, and I find the whole movement annoying as shit. Not because I'm some uber feminist and "worry about the objectification of women" or something, but because it bugs the hell out of me. I mean ultimately something like this won't stop me from playing a game but I still find the fact that I would potentially need to justify myself to someone seeing me play a game with fanservice like that very off-putting.

They are using sex to sell, and being a religious person I don't give a crap about seeing porn in my video games like the gen pop does.  It's seriously distasteful most of the time and corny, it literally adds nothing of value but FAP material.  I could go on and on on how this is why video games and other media get a bad rep, but in this case I thought FE was a game (IT WAS BEFORE AWAKENING) that didn't use sex to sell and it's strengths rested on that.

Can no longer say that any longer

I fail to see the problem, if you think the gameplay has changed for the worse blame the developers, not the character designers

I see the game deisgn and the characters as the problem.  It's both the dev team and character designers fault for this

Tora-  I am a Christian also but in no way would i characterize anything in FE "porn"

You must have a HUGE problem with catalogs like Victorias Secret as virtually anyone can get hold of them and they are far more "risque" than FE

But then again for some reason i don t beleive your "religion" has anything to do with your post-  the way you ar eusing it does not sond like a religous person would -   I haave found that the SJWS   are trying to use codewords like"religion" and "puritain"   to do their dirty work because there is so much contradiction in asking for less sexualization in video games -

Okay, now you've turned my interest.  How is it a contradiction in any shape, way or form to ask for less sexualization in video games?  Please tell me, because nothing you said in your post makes an ounce of sense to me.  Of course p0RN-ish sexualization in games is not going anywhere due to people who like it and support it.   I just wish they would keep it out of games like FE that never had any to begin with and now it's identical to some fanservice'y ecchi anime

One thing is clear though, the old way was not working out for them considering how much FE sales decreased with each iteration. Only after FEA did it once again start telling quite a bit and most likely, the fan service helped with the sales. So yea, I really see no issues with it. If the minority has issues with sex, oh well, I for one would rather take oversexualization over a dead franchise anyday.

I just hope NoA doesn't censor it like they did with FEA

Oversexualization or not, the Fire Emblem franchise as we knew it is dead since Awakening released.

You can't say that Awakening and Radiant Dawn are 2 games of the same franchise.

Loll are you kidding me? FEA has Fire Emblem mechnics at its heart... The Core gameplay of the franchise is there with some added and decreased elements... FEA brought back a few things that the franchise had anyway. It had the map system from Sacred Stones, The marrige system from FE4 and a few other things. Yea it went a lot more fan service but that doesn't magically make the game not part of the franchise anymore... Thats just nonsense at best

He isn't wrong, all of the game felt completely different aside from the gameplay somewhat.

Setting, characters, art, plot, ect.  All of it completely watered down and changed.

You're just cherrypicking out the bits that fit your point! When playing in context of the game, it'll be largely unnoticeable. A lot of that stuff is hidden in the optional extras.

And also, look at in proportion to the entire characters rosters. It's really not that bad on the whole:

That booby cut scene I linked is literally the first cutscene on the whole game.  There is also another scene where from your avatars POV you run into her tits and they juggle in the screen.  Seriously?

And as for the strip tease bits, you are suppose to be able to do it with all characters to increase relationship stats, ect.  Hardly "cherrypicking".  Fire Emblem in the past never had anything close to this sexual in the game.

since when are christians antisexy? and since when are boobs provocative?

That's the way my parents raised me.  I don't have a thing against giant boobs other than that they are ridiclous lol.  But this camera perving hotspring nude beach crap on FE is way to much for me.

have you never played Dragon Age before? lol

Nope, but I am well aware of sexualization in video games.  FE was an exception which is why I liked it so much, now it's just like any other JRPG with the fanservice and sexy bits.  It's sickening to see them go down that path.

Sexualizing is perfectly fine and I'm sure no one here is complaining about sexualization. But OVER Sexualization when you're doing it just for doing it's sake when there's no need or it's just too much is definitely a bad thing and can grow tiresome pretty quickly.

Exactly.  And when it's done in the usual anime style it's almost always cringe worthy and done poorly.  FE is a victim of this

Didn't you enjoy Persona 3 and Persona 4? Those two have petty fanservice like any other modern JRPG. Do you remember the hot spring scene?

Expect Persona 5 to be the ultimate tits fest. They are saving the big guns for when the game releases.

You don't have to justify yourself, be a man and show the world you like hand drawn tits, there is nothing wrong with that.

Awakening compared to Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn?

Crappy story (if you call that a story), crappy characters, almost all maps are wide open fields with nothing on it, no balancing in the difficulty, only "Kill all enemies" or "Kill the boss" objectives, no gold, items or XP management (unlimited with side battles), and no strategy involved in the entire game (pair up your two main characters, win the battle, and at the end you don't even have to pair them up, one character is enough). And I surely missed a few points.

Nope, it's not the same franchise to me, it's more like the kid friendly mobile spin off.

Hahaha, oh, this again....

If the game is as fun as Awakening was, and provided it isn't loaded with uncomfortable overly-sexualized scenes, I don't really care. At the moment, all I'm seeing are a bunch of pictures being provided out of context. And I am quite sure that none of these pictures are from core parts of the game.

So yeah...I don't care. And I actually consider myself a pretty PC guy, but the fact that they are doing it to both sexes makes it fine to me.

I don't like it.

I don't get why people here get so defensive everytime there's critcism about a Nintendo game.

This just makes it look like another generic skimpy JRPG#32235.

Fire Emblem had a great art style up until Awakening, now fates just went full "compile hearts/senran kagura" crap (imo).

Altough i don't blame them honestly, Awakening was going to be the last game in a franchise that was about to die, and Awakening turned it into very important 3DS franchise now.

Still, the price was too high, now instead of getting lords fighting for their people and empire, we get big titties and softcore porn, it's like they sold their dignity just to stay afloat.

However this is just an opinion, if you just enjoy this type of artstyle, well, better for you.

I just wish this moe artstyle could die, there's so few JRPGs nowadays that don't look like K-ON and stuff like that.

I just can't immerse myself in a game that have this kind of characters, i wan't to play as a knight with full plate armor, not as a 15 year old with double D cups almost nude fighting other 15 year olds with D cups.

Wait, how is the series dead? Awakening saved and revived the series. It's thanks to Awakening that we are getting Fates. And how are Awakening and RD not same games in the franchise? They are both FE games. Awakening has the core mechanic of a FE game, just with a lot more added features. It's taking the series and expanding it, which has been rather similar up until Awakening.
