Well, Rol beat me to my answer, also because I'm lazy I'm just going to quote it. To add to Shigeru, there is Donkey Kong that made arcades popular in the west again, an IP of him.
Charles Martel. He prevented sarracens from conquering the europe and was the most important person for anything that has to do with modern science.
Nintendo and more specifically Shigeru Miyamoto.
Nintend saved console games witht he nes. The first game with different songs for different types of level. Tons of innovation in game design, some of the most influential franchises, the mother fuckin' gameboy! Pokemon. They practically reset the standards for 3D gaming with Super Mario 64. Seriously that game pretty much informed all of 3D gaming. And super mario bro.s did the same for 2D. Motion controls etc, it just goes on and on.
