I've never been a huge DC fan (or comics in general) but this movie looks fantastic. I'm as hyped for as I was for the first avengers. Really not digging Lex Luthor and his new direction. I would have prefer a more intimidating but charismatic actor.

As far as the people know, he didn't save the kids, or do anything on the oil rig. Lois knows he saves her, but noone else does. Zod wouldn't have been there if not for Superman, so the public is not going to give him a whole lot of credit for.
If Superman hadn't been there, millions more people would be alive, even accounting for the few people he saved. So I get the hatred. The problem was it's stupid to make a Superman movie where everyone hates Superman.
I get why people would hate him.. I mean, the aliens came looking for him. So far, he has contributed nothing to the world aside from fixing problems that wouldn't have existed if he hadn't come to Earth. And people like finding things to blame anyway.
Again, it's not that I don't think it makes sense, it's just not a god idea for a superman movie.
Well, that's not entirely true either, at least from MoS we know of numerous incidents where he saved people. Lois twice, humanity, the school bus full of kids, the oil rig, etc... So there is reason to believe that he cares about humanity. I do get it, kneejerk reaction is to hate that they had to choose Earth, but it really wasn't his choice (should be able to explain that, dude's calm as hell).
Dunno, couple these occasions together, with the entire shouting match between Zod and Superman at the end in front of all those people, before he snaps his neck to avoid killing humans...that's gotta count for something, doesn't it?
Well the trailer does show a bunch of rogue mercs or zealots that apparently are worshiping Superman and doing crap without his permision but in his name. Probably violent vigilantes So it's a good chance that Lex will convince the public (and Batman) that Superman is indeed the leader of this guy. I'm betting that a big point of this film will be Superman, Wonder Woman, and Batman forming the Justice League and being vindicated as heroes in the eyes of most of the world.
I don't like any Superman vs. Batman story lines. They require tremendous leaps and logic and suspension of disbelief beyond that of normal comic plots. That or they have to written by Frank Miller. I like Batman as much as the next guy, but "Because he's the goddamn Batman" isn't logical reason for him to win a fight.
Not sure why it takes tremendous leaps of logic to believe that Batman would have a chance against Superman if they were both going head to head. Both characters are well developed throughout DC universe so how they would act in such a situation would go along those lines. Superman with this superior body and capabilities would easily just walk into traps because there is very little that can harm him. Batman on the other hand would especially plan on every contigency he could to trap Superman and use his ego to lure him where he wants.
Superman can move faster than Batman can perceive. You can't beat someone in head to head fight if they can move faster than you can react. It's stupid. It's one of the reasons I like MoS. They put Superman up against foes that can actually beat him in a head to head fight.
Just reading through the comments. I don't know how the film will play out but it is called "Dawn of Justice". The two may have a little pissing match where Batman shows he's smarter and Superman shows he's more powerful but in the end, as always, it's going to end with mutual respect and likely the foundation of forming a team.
We get caught up in an will beat who but i doubt Its going to go that way. This isn't Rocky. It's two iconic eroes who ( usually) don't kill. Let's just enjoy the story.
-also, I'm not actually sure I'm responding to you!! I just hit " quote " and went to town!
Maybe the answer was not for me directly, but I understand your point. The thing is WHY are they going to go with that kind of ending, the "look I am sorry I tried to kill you, lets be friends now" works if there is a reason why they should get together, the problem right now is that all the teasers and trailers are pointing to a build up of the fight, then the fight, then the end. The title is practically Batman vs Superman, so the problem seems to be that there is no more story beyond the build up to the fight, actually now that you mention it, it reminds me of the Rocky movies, I hope it has something else going for it, but hopes are not high.
Isn't it Human nature to fear what you do not understand. Its the fact that he is not of this earth. Posses abilities that allow him to decimate any army. The only thing holding him back is himself. When people cannot trust the same people they know, how can they trust someone they totally do not know.
So yes, fear would be the first thing you feel towards Superman and next would be hate. From the trailer it appears that this is when Superman start to make himself known as someone who does care even when people fear and hate him which is probably on point. It's a choice Superman has to make because in reality, who is to say people will just love him because he did a few good deeds. When people do good things, others get suspicisous that its for some type of gain.
It is not supouse to be Batman a smart guy?, sure the public in general will fear him, a few will love him and a few will hate him; hell I bet there will be some ultra-right guys telling him that he is an ilegal alien, and will burn in hell because reasons, in all the countries there is people like that. And Batman would be very suspicious but enough to hate him?, to fight him? If people think he is smart enough to fight one on one with Superman, he should be smart enough to do the proper research and act accordingly.
Did you saw Justice League: war (animated movie)?, that is how a Batman vs Superman should go, both caught in a confusion, trying to inmovilize the other, and finishing by finding out their secret identities in THREE minutes total.

While I agree with you, is not a Superman movie, is a prequel for Justice League
I'm still not digging this "protect a world that hates and fears him" thing they got going on. I mean, I get why people might act like that, but it's simply never been part of the superman experience.
You don't read enough Superman comics or watch the old Justice League cartoon, then....
Anybody here ever read Kingdom Come? Great story. Like a lot of stories, it reveals that Batman never trusted Superman. Batman is like a good Lex Luthor. Here the pinnacle of what a human can be meanwhile this alien is beloved and inspiring.
They didn't fight in that story but Batman did (appear to *wink, wink*) join up with the villains to take Superman down--along with other heroes. Why? They were too powerful and caused too many casualties.

Why do you think everyone hates Superman in this movie? Some people hate him, a lot of people are suspicious because of how powerful he is, some people like him, and some even worship him.
I don't know why you're only seeing people who hates him from that tailer.
