Did they? I doubt it. The game has never sold over 850K in North America, which means probably never sold over 800K in the USA. How would anyone with the slightest clue about MLB historical sales ever claim it's a huge US system seller?
It is a minor system seller. It's consistently been the best baseball game on consoles, which means for the rather small number of baseball game enthusiasts Playstation is their console of choice. If MLB the Show didn't exist, or Sony stopped producing the franchise, a 3rd party multiplat would be the premier baseball game and Sony would lose a small number of console sales to the competition. Clearly, even though the Franchise sells relatively small numbers, and pretty much only in the NA, Sony regards it as an important franchise to keep going.
Anyway, I think the main argument of the OP: Halo 5 is gonna be huge. Is kind of redundant. Halo 5 was going to be huge with or without the existence of MCC. Is there some suggestion that Halo fans have not been buying MCC and that the MCC sales represents ~2.5 million never played Halo before gamers who will massively swell Halo 5 sales beyond all expectations, and that Halo fans have not been buying Xb one and are all waiting for Halo 5 to come along to massively swell Xb one sales?
