It was only a matter of time until someone had to say it wasn't it? If you go through the thread you'll find that creamsugar gave that number I'm pretty sure, creamsugar has been leaking NPD numbers for ages and they are only ever doubted if someone doesn't like them.

Actually, I CAN'T go through the thread - it's blocked to non-members, now. So I couldn't possibly know who it was.

If it was "creamsugar", then I'll just ask this - this person has been "leaking" the numbers... and in what way have the leaks been proven accurate? It's not enough to assert that they're right because they've been "leaking" the numbers "for ages". I don't know whether the person is actually trustworthy, because while I sometimes look at NeoGAF because they tend to catch news quicker than others, I don't just trust the claims made by people on NeoGAF, without extra information.

This doesn't mean I doubt the numbers. I have no position whatsoever on the numbers being claimed - but it is not logical to conclude they're right because they've been giving numbers for a long time. And more importantly, quoting the VGChartz thread for the NPD numbers, which provides NO sources for the numbers, doesn't count as sourcing the numbers, any more than quoting a random, unsourced Wikipedia article counts as a "source". That was what I was challenging.

I meant go through the vgchartz thread. Here's the post with the information, yes there is no link but I don't think we have to argue about whether or not the poster of that comment just made the numbers up, seems like an extremely random thing to do:

http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=7226408

Before the NPD got angry at Neogaf for leaking these numbers (hint 1 that they are accurate) there were several people with the numbers that leaked information in those threads (the other main person was Aquamarine) so unless we assume that all of those people were bullshitting and backing each other up it would seem pretty unlikely for nobody to ever call someone else out for spreading false information.

270k until 1 million. Of course, there is always digital sales

And then the amazing legs of Nintendo games.

What say you, will it hit 1 million? Or fall short?

The game's got amazing legs alright ;P

But just because this game was published by Nintendo doesn't mean the game sales will have great legs.

Still performing better than expected, considering Bayonetta sales on the 360/PS3 with a combined 160+ million install base.

Nooo!!! When Bayonetta released PS3/X360 had a 60M install base.
And on PS3/360 there were much much more games than on Wii U at the time.

I doubt it, tbh.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

It's funny how VGChartz own users don't trust their sales statistics.

Time's almost up. Bayonetta, you'd better start creating miracles.

it could had being 4 million + if it was multi platform! hey hey

(platinum lost alot of money or Nintendo did paid alot of money)

one way or the other 1 of them lost alot of $$$$ (who nintendo or platinum) humm

If it was gonna make that money. Sega would of produced the game, from the start, for the other systems. Sega wouldn't just say no to a sequal for no reason.

Amazon Best Sellers Rank: #416 in Video Games (See Top 100 in Video Games)

Dem legs!

Platinum didn't pay anything. They received payments to develop the game as they don't even own the IP.

Nintendo is the one paying for development. SEGA likely didn't pay anything either and just allowed them to use the IP, but if they did they're going to get a share, which lowers the amount of revenue Nintendo can keep for themselves. Either way it wasn't a good investment as the HW sales barely rose and the game surely isn't profitable.
