Forums - Gaming - How MS could take a chunk out of Sony's sales this Holiday!

The only one that matters by any notable amount is the 4th point. Halo will obviously push consoles en masse.

In the US I think the XBO can win, though it heavily depends on wether or not Sony will drop the PS4 price before the holidays. Star Wars, CoD, Assassin's Creed, MGS V and Destiny combined will give Halo a massive run for its money if their competing at price parity (Yes, I obviously know that I listed only multiplats, but Sony marketing for all of them will make a difference when you add it up).

So I think the XBO will win the US if the PS4 stays at 400$, but if the PS4 drops to 349$ I think the PS4 will win (unless they drop the XBO down to 299$).

Worldwide it's obviously no question.

I definitly agree and don't expect a price cut at all really.  What people fail to notice is that Sony really doesn't need it.  Also, Xbox One can be more competitive this way and that keeps the industry healthy.  One quote that Sony's UK boss said "No one wins a race to $0".  Sony doesn't want to wipe out the Xbox One with overly aggressive pricing either because that will only contract the industry.    Even Yoshida said that the industry is at its best when there is "healthy" competition.   There is no way Microsoft wins this holiday, but at the same time, there is no reason for Sony to be that aggressive either.

Exactly. And unlike MS, Sony actually needs PS to make money not just breakeven.

Well, strictly speaking Sony don't need Playstation to make money this year, their financial woes are  (for the most part) over. (As a matter of fact they've forecast Playstation division profit to be down this fiscal year, even though they have forecast revenue from the division to be up, so they expect margins to be down, which suggests a price cut may actually be planned).

But a 100$ price cut would be out of the question. A 50$ price cut doesn't seem too unlikely though.

how about an XBOX One bundled with an elite controller with a COD game for $350 only. ;)

that would certainly appeal a lot gamers converting to an 8th gen console.

We're trying to be realistic here though right ;)

realistically,  price wars and bundles.  if X1 would chop another $50 off with new games bundled that would help their sales, but i don't know if MS would profit.  and I think that new $50 off would help X1 to get a chunk of sales from PS4 in the US market.

Bundling the new controller (which is very expensive, throwing in COD).. that's what I mean by being realistic... it's not going to happen.  Bundling of COD could happen.

i know. it won't happen especially with the price of the elite controller. ;)

my last post was a $50 off bundled with new games would sell in the US market for X1.

3. The Xbox elite controller. Don't tell me those 13 year olds crazy over Cod don't want a controller like this. All of them want any type of advantage they can possibly have, even if that means just 3 extra kills.  They will beg their poor parents to buy them the Elite controller. Some might say, "But it's $150 why would you buy that?" Most controllers with similar features run for $200+, and you're getting an official controller by MS, not some 3rd party company.

I think Call of Duty players will be more concerned about this:

http://www.gamespot.com/articles/how-sony-won-call-of-duty-dlc-exclusivity-away-fro/1100-6428490/

over anything else.

I don't know who will sell better this Xmas, but if Micro really wants to win they should bundle every Xbone with a PS4 for $299.

Hardcore COD players are more concerned about where their clans and pro teams are. And the best COD players play on Xbox. The elite controller and scuf controllers are the best ever made for console fps.

Most pros are sponsor by SCUF. SCUF basically throws modified controllers are the pro-players for free and those players won't be leaving SCUF to use the Elite in competitve play(unless they wanted to throw away free money). Here is OpticNadeshot(pro player) saying he is sticking with SCUF and won't be using the Elite:

OpticScump also does not seemed phased about the moved of competitive COD going to PS4, in fact he seems happy about it as he bags out the Xbox1 in this video:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QkSg0hu73-E

SCUF will be more aggressiver with their promotion of Dual Shock 4 for 2 reasons:

1) Competitive COD being featured on the PS4
2) Competition from the Elite controller may eat up their marketshare so they will focus more on the 4PS(dual shock 4 SCUF) where they can reign freely.

These guys are paid by SCUF to use SCUF. Unless they want to give up free and easy money, that won't change.

Lol that would be like Microsoft essentially paying people to take an xbox1 :P

A $150 controller and rare replay...really? The only things that will decide whether XB1 wins in the US is price and Halo 5.
