Forums - Nintendo - Are you interested in Mario Maker?

Yes, I'm definitely interested and it will be a Day 1 purchase for me. Why?

It's Nintendo-made, so:

1.) I know the quality, presentation, gameplay, controls, and content will be top-notch.
2.) I am fairly certain the game will work on release day, with no need for patches or bug-fixes.
3.) It has 100 pre-made levels and probably hundreds of user-generated levels, so this game will have tons of replay value.
4.) We haven't had a good 2D platforming Super Mario game in awhile, honestly. This will probably change that.

I'm amazed that you are sincerely comparing some random flash game to an actual Nintendo-licensed product. Wouldn't it be the same as me directing you to any number of shitty mobile/flash shooter games and saying "Why are people so excited about Halo 5? Isn't this just as good? Just buy this instead!"

Sorry, not trying to be rude. I guess the flash Mario game might be fine for a quick fix, but imo nowhere near the level or quality that SMM is going to be.

It'll be awhile before I figure out how to do one of these. :P

Have never seen any Mario makers on the PC. But to counter what you have said, I have seen billions of Angry bird clones on ,,,everywhere, does that mean a new version for the Ipad will not sell a ton?

Minecraft clones are everywhere, does that mean Vgchartz is lying and the PS4, 360, vita, etc are not selling a ton of Minecraft games weekly?

People want Nintendo games and this is a great idea for them to do finally. Do you really not understand this or are you just trying to stir up controversy?

According to a game developer I recently had the pleasure to speak to, the numbers on this site are made up yes. He told me his games sold a lot more than this site would have you believe. He also said that no one in the gaming industry takes this site serious (he was not talking about the forums, so he wasn't insulting us).

Not really. Create your own levels games aren't really my thing.

Of course I'm interested, but I won't be getting it at such a ridiculous price.. :/

I am Excited

There Are Many Paths to Gaming Heaven

It is the only reason I didn't sell my Wii U to my friend a few weeks ago.

Ask stefl1504 for a sig, even if you don't need one.

I'm not interested either. Don't see the appeal of the game but then again, I'm not that big of fan of 2D Mario games, and many people are. So there certainly is a market for this type of game.

So in the past i heard alot people saying they are interested in mario maker.

I cant really understand that.

There are dozens of free mario level editors already available for pc.

Just check this: (Possibly illegal link removed)

A flash based mario game including a complete editor. I just need 5-10 minutes to get used to the editor and got a pretty good level.

In my Opinion its ridicoulus that nintendo will selling such a title probl at full price (40-60$). Even a flash game can do it (probl made my one person as a hobby).

If Mario Maker has a great online community and is easy to share levels than this game will be worth it since more people will be interested in an official Nintendo Mario Maker game.

And like others said, 100+ premade levels from Nintendo including the NWC ones are big selling point as well.

But since we're talking about free Mario Maker apps, people should also check out Mari0 which is a Super Mario Bros. 1 editor with Valve's Portal Physics:

Here's a generic level I made from it (shameless plug in ):

Maybe Nintendo and Valve can team up just to have this as a future DLC feature
