Forums - Sony - Shocked about Piracy?

Hi! New member here... don't want to begin a hoax or something and maybe a fake too but "Group [Slump]" claims that they have a iso loader ready to roll...

Well...

...it's finally done!

It's now possible to play game images over 17.5GB with no lags!
i.load won't hang up anymore. So all bugs are fixed.

Big thanks to our beta-tester - DCP,FFM,Rob Samson! You guys are awesome!

And now a good message for all the 40GB owner - Jump for joy! You can run PS3 and PS1 backups, too! It was very hard to get it but we're proud of it!

So, please prepare your internet connection for this historic date, 'cause you will need to download 1.2GB (all in one package with manual).

Big_T and Zizzle will sign up on the websites ~ 5 minutes before the download is public. They won't answer private messages. So that's why they aren't regristed yet.

So and now we will have to wait to the PAL birthday of the ps3. I hope you got a party-hat

Release: March 23.th - 11.23pm

Please take a look at our updated requirements

It was going to be released on March 23 (PAL PS3 anniversary... ???) but now they said they will release on sunday to prove is true (even they have a countdown clock on their blog). Hope not... I don't want a second PSP :(

Some News....

A lot o people think that i.load is a piece of shit and it's a fake 'cause there is no proof. If we upload a new video of i.load you would already say it's a fake. So we have decided to make it public this sunday on the same time. The download is available for 6 hours. It's enough time for a download. After these 6 hours the download will be closed. Please download and test it, but there will be no support 'cause it starts again on the 23th march 2008. But please stop crying!

Greetings,

Link to the blog: hxxp://group-slump.blogspot.com/

(They removed the previous messages on the blog... just the countdown remains)

Cheers!

Edit: By the way... hope I'm not breaking any rules for post this...

Both are so true. :)

So, this might just prevent the real hacking/downgrading to grow into major forms again. The only interesting stuff there is left is to run importgames that never got released here, but that's only interesting for PS1/PS2 games, otherwise the download will be too big..

You mean, sorta like the PS3 is doing? Reports already indicate that Sony has halved the cost of the machine since its launch and they haven't come close to finishing the cost cutting process. They are still using 65nm cells and 90nm RSXs, but intend to drop those to 45nm and 65nm in the near enough future. By sometime next year at the latest, every PS3 will be sold at a profit.

So, again, how is the PS3 any different from any of Sony's other systems?

No reports actually by sony themselves.

Besides that what makes it any different? Blu-ray and being a multimedia device is the PS3's main focus. Not being a games system. Even when they start making a profit on it the PS3 it is likely going to be out of reach of your poorer countires persons budget and wouldn't be practical due to the fact that an HD Tv is neccessary to get anywhere near most of the value out of the system.

Not many people in poorer countries are going to have HD TVs and even richer countries have fairly low HD Adoption. The greater HD adoption in richer countries means it's likely the sales may be centered more in richer countries since most people in poorer countries can't even make use of more then half the systems capabilities and likely won't be within 5-6 years before Sony releases a new console. (The 10 year console obviously took into account the PS2 being a 7-8 year console.)

Well that and unlike something like the PSP PS3 games are HUGE.  So you would need on top of the huge investment of the PS3, to drop in a mega harddrive to get any use out of it at all.  Something that is going to be way cheaper and done more eaisly in 3rd world countries.  I mean Heavenly sword had something like 10 Gigs of audio alone... and Heavenly Sword is a short ass game.  Sure that doesn't stop the burning of games... but for that you need blu-ray burners which are also likely going to be well out of the price range of most poorer countries, and unlike the PS2 you couldn't sell a disc with many many game son it, just a few.

Making the benefits of piracy in the third world extremely limited.  Further making it more likely for piracy to be centered among countries that could afford it more likely.

That's good. I actually like genuine better than pirated. Let's say this, I love art boxes.

I'd say PSP has it worst than the DS.

Eh maybe. I actually think a very significant amount of PSP sales wouldn't have occured if it wasn't due to the fact that you could pirate it.

I know that's how it is with well... just about everyone I know with a PSP.

People who complain about loss of revenue in media when it comes to media players tend to ignore the fact that this boosts hardware by a considerable margin.

Back in around 2004 or 5 the Wall Street Journal did a study where they found that something like 75% of the people buying Ipods would not have purchased Ipods if it was impossible to put music on their Ipod that they didn't get from Cds or Itunes stores. Which was why Apple was turning a blind eye to piracy.

@ Iron_megalith: Tbh, same goes for DS. I hear a lot of people about buying that one chip so they only need to buy the DS to play some games.

Both sales are sure to be affected by it. But the percentage of PSP users that knows about homebrew/brikcing and stuff I think will be way higher.

no, I'm not shocked about piracy as a whole, there has always been and always will. Every console in the recent history has been cracked... except one.

That's why I'm shocked is that PS3 is YET to be cracked. Considering how easily hackers like Dark_Alex can crack a PSP firmware, and yet the newest Sony console release is yet to be defeated.

Do you think that Sony finally learned their lesson from PSP and got it right this time?

Yes , and I cant wait to se what gamesales will the PSP2 have , when piracy wont hurt it ...

Vote the Mayor for Mayor!

Sony blew it by allowing other OS's to be installed. Linux is highly customizable if you know what you're doing. I'm sure somewhere right now someone is working on a version of Linux that is no more then a GUI that allows to launch bootleg games via the hard drive.

Since, Sony has a 10 Year plan the developer is probably in no rush to release it either.

By the way the Linux kernel is very small. If you strip out the stuff you don't need it can be small enough to fit on a floppy disk (if they're still around).
