More than half of the games you mentioned are developed by Nintendo or aided by Nintendo. Of course those games are gonna look pretty when you have the actual console maker there to help you squeeze out better performance for your game.

Have you ever considered the fact that most of those games have built a custom engine for the Wii u to be able to play them? Custom engines are great because the squeeze benefits from the customized wii u. Unreal Engine 3 has probably not been optimized for the Wii u as it has for the PS3 and Xbox 360. The only people who have used UE3 on the Wii u either dropped support (Warner bros) or continue to make games with bad graphics (Devils third).

pretty games can be a factor of gpu performance, not cpu performance. Just like how mario kart 8 drop in frame rate with more than two people, the more computations that the cpu has to deal with, the less it can focus on performance (lowering the fps). Slightly mad studios as an example said that their game looks great, mostly because their resolution is where it needs to be (thanks to a semi-decent gpu), it was the fps that was killer (thanks to a poor cpu).

Way to look at possibilities and facts before calling a dev ignorant and lazy. Clearly every other third party is plotting a conspiracy against Nintendo.

Do you really think this was an issue for Mighty No. 9 though? If so, how much of a drop in performance do you think Wii U owners can expect when compared to the other platforms?

I think it's half the problem, the other half would be the engine.

If I had to guess, they are having little problems with the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions since the engine (UE3) has been constantly updated for those console. Since UE4, epic probably stopped updating UE3, so for consoles where UE3 wasn't fully optimized (ps4, Xbox one, wii u), they were probably hoping to circumvent this issue by having raw specs make up for this issue (of which the Xbox one and ps4 have plenty of). This of course leaves the Wii u with the biggest disadvantage (which prompted the dev to say the game was having specs issues with the Wii u).

In the end, the Wii u version will perform closest to the Xbox 360 and PS3 (the dev seems very dedicated to make the wii u version happen). If they had to make compromises on the Wii u, they would probably start with larger loading times (those were the first to go when Rayman legends got a cpu boost on the ps4). After that, they might start removing features, enemy count, and effects, or they would have the game run at an unstable frame rate. Ultimately I think that the developer is dedicated enough and is gonna be able to reach parity by giving up more time and money than the other versions.

So much spin for an unremarkable looking game... Jeez.

More like logic. Most of your comments involve "the game looks awful therefore the developer is shit since the Wii u hardware is perfect!"

I gave a reasoning (may not be right may not be wrong), as to why there are struggles on the Wii u version. This is to prevent people like goodnightmoon and you from calling developers shit without looking at all the possibilities. But of course, it may not even matter to you since you are sooo concerned with the look of this game made by a recent startup compared to those of a billion dollar company that is also in control of the console they make.

again, these are just assumptions/speculations.... if the example above is true, which i'm not denying. so MN9's case, there would be a ton of enemies that the CPU can't handle and it would slow it down further. so that massive ton of enemies with all those actions they are doing is greater than those in MK 8's 4 local multiplayer game that is throwing shells, etc on a good HD graphic.

it maybe a problem and it is just an assumption but i'm not buying it.

Inti Creates is a recent startup now? You truly know nothing about this game. Inafune is also new to the industry I guess?

The game looks bad and I've seen better games with only 1/10th of the KS budget.

I was referring to comcept............

and inafune is a veteran in the games industry, but I don't remember a single wii u title he worked on, do you?

Given how the game is coming out to 10 different platforms, while also having a limited team wouldn't it make sense that it wouldn't look nearly as great as wii u exclusive indies. But that doesn't mean their lazy, they're just working under different circumstances.

At least you acknowledge that what I am saying is speculation. I don't know if I'm right, but I'm not going to instantly call a developer lazy.

remember that the bottleneck is most likely the engine used and not the hardware. This is certainly plausible when you realize that most Nintendo games create their own engines (or reuse them like captain toad). Most indie developers don't have the benefit of creating their own engines, so they use popular and public engines like unreal engine, cryengine, unity,...

There is still room for optimization in MN9, but that takes time and money. This is avoided through having a lot of cpu and gpu power. Even if  unreal engine only uses 60% (made up number) of the ps4's cpu, that may be enough due to the sheer size of ps4 specs. The same can't be said of the Wii u, which is why there would be a problem.

Look at Playtonic Games, their game looks better after only 3 months of work.

Uuuuuh if they can't get THAT to run on the Wii U, I'm sorry but they suck at their job. I can understand CARS and other big titles and such but this isn't even impressive for its genre.

That and Nintendo made an impossible system for any third party to develop for

Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar
