For me, it's the only thing I want them to give me for sure. I don't mind if it's turn based or not. As long as I can kick ass as any character in my party, then I'm fine! =)

Well, first of all, FFVII used a turned based battle system and the remake of that game should have it too. If you never liked the battle system in FF7, you have no business playing the remake of the game.
In FFXII, you were supposed to use gambits to manage your characters' actions. After it was set, you wouldn't need to micro-manage anything. XIII was not the same as XII. Turned based RPGs stopped being localised for the most part when the ps3 didn't do well. I believe that it had more to do with that than it just falling out of favor. JRPGs of any type sell the best on playstation consoles.

I think the more things I ask for the more invested I get in something I can't ever have. It's really hard to go into something with an open mind when you have invested so much into it previously

I'm not asking anything other than that.
I think is pretty mild.

I overthink a lot
It's not going to be turn based. Nomura has pretty much already stated that.

Bah. Not necessarily. But I try not to have too many expectations about that kind of things. I like to know the bare minimum about something, the overall idea. If I'm hooked based on that, then I wait until I finally get to play to pass my judgment on it. In the case of this remake, based on the info we were given in the interviews so far, I know the story will be respected, taht the light hearted elements will make a come back, that they want to make the game better than the original, and that the battle system will be changed/altered/updated. I'm fine will all of that. So I see no reason to worry.
As I said, I only have one expectation, or rather request, from them, and it's to let us keep control over all of our party members. The way they achieve that doesn't worry me. But I will be disappointed if it plays like FF XV, in which you only control a single character all game long. But I kinda feel confident Nomura knows better than to do something like that.
Square Enix said that there's already an HD version of FF7 so of you want it to be the same (I Do) thenn you should buy that. The word that scares me the most is "reimagining". That almost automatically indicates that ATB is no more from the get go. Im praying for ATB though. Can't wait to see the Ferris wheel scene and the Golden Saucer...So hyped!!
Hmm, that`s hard to say. For fans of the game, perhaps keeping it the same as the original would be good? Though for modern players, turn-based battles may be boring to them. I guess I`m fine with ever staying true to FF7 or changing it up a bit, as long as it is fun, and it is not the FF13 battle system...

if it's not turn based like the old FF games I won't bother with it, it's not really FF VII if you have some stupid MMO esque battle system :-/
I want battle screens, control over the whole crew, the materias, etc. just like before, with a new coat of paint!
