i really dont think nintendo is fighting anyone right now they are trying to focus on getting hte lead while sony and micro tear each other to shreads...i really see there stance is gettign you to buy one in addition to the 360 or ps3

CVG is being way too heavy on the sarcasm today. "Yep, no retro remakes there at all." I'm sure having another distribution channel devoted solely to porting retro games won't keep them off of WiiWare one little bit.

wiiware titles have ALL the features of regular wii titles...including ONLINE...the tetris for wiiware has 8 player online for one...

so now we've cleared up that misconception....vc games (all old games, no new games) have no online...those are simply playing old roms like u do on ur computer with an emulator...wii ware games are full games that simply are sold online instead of in-store...their only lesser factor than normal games is the size limitation, so they aren't as big...but they get online, mii integration, balance board integration, whatever else they wanna use just like normal wii games

His tone is bad, and his statment may be overly harsh, but I can understand why a WiiWare developer may not want their new and completely original title sitting on a service where 90% of the titles are ports/remakes of popular games with very little new content ...

XBox Live Arcade's current line-up probably makes it very popular with retro-gamers (similar to how the Virtual Console works) but an indie developer wants people who are looking for new original games in order to maximize their potential sales. If you're working on the "Geometry Wars" of 2008 you don't want people to pass by your game (thinking it is crap) because they haven't heard of it, and then for them to choose to play asteroids instead.

Couldn't XBL arcade just clear some of that "shit" up by simply putting original titles in they're own category? I mean that's what the shoddy as phuk PSN service does x.x; It seems like all the problems they're having can be easily fixed o.O;

This guys statement was extremely arrogant. Not sure how everyone is so excited for a service that all its competitors already have. (kinda like in-game XMB. Sure I want it, but not like most.)

However, I'm def looking forward to Eternity's Child and FF:CC.

After reading that article about Jeff Minter bitching about XBLA I don't understand why switching to the Wii will be better. I mean is it like PSN with no size cap on games? Jeff Minter complained because his game Space Giraffe was outsold by a Frogger remake. Then he goes on to say people on XBLA have no taste if they choose Frogger over his game. I guess he didn't realize original games have sold pretty well on XBLA. Maybe people didn't buy his game because it sucked!? Then because it didn't sell he doesn't want to make another game for XBLA ever?

Now these developers are complaining because gamers on XBLA prefer retro titles, but what happens when their games are outsold by VC titles? I guess Jeff Minter will feel better if Dr. Mario outsells his next game rather than Asteroids or Millipede.

XBLA already splits the Arcade games into categories like that. It even gives a brief synopsis of the game as well as let you download a demo. My Xbox is even set to download the newest games automatically so I don't even have to waste time looking doing it myself. That way you can distinguish the crap from the good games.
