@the debate here (sony vs nintendo)
The Wii-U only sold more because of xenoblade and splatoon, imagine how sparsley the sales are going to be after both games when there is a huge drought coming soon? Playstation has always a new japanese game releasing every month and some wester localisation.
And the fact is that nintendo maybe sold more hardware so far but current software sales are showing that playstation users are buying more games, its more than double than nintendo games are selling (it was even more a lot of times weeks prior).

Alot of japanese games dont need more hardware power yet so the games are released with ps3 in mind still

The thing is, would beating the Wii U be enough to say Sony reclaimed Japan. The thing is gaming market, and what it means isn't just home consoles, or handhelds. It is a whole environment.

It doesnt matter as long as ps4 is the leading platform for consoles because i want japanese tripple AAA. I dont think its nintendos intention to make high budget AAA games they often times have shown. Japan is still a huge market for consoles with huge amounts of game devolopers, it can still overtake the UK and become second despite all the mobile if the ps4 sales are increasing.

lol this kind of argument really smh , we talked about japanese market and then you moving the goal post ? sony are done in japan 8th generation hardware are on 5.5m ltd and nintendo at 21m

Guys, i think the people don't understant what is the point.
The point IS NOT who is selling better between PS4 and Wii U, the point is that PS4 is little or more at the Wii U level. Even worse, for be correct.

So, why Wii U is not a competitor for the PS4, when it is selling equal/more ?
You can understand that make 0 sense.

Um...and the same can be said about the PS4 earlier this year "It only sold more because of Bloodborne, Dragon Quest Heroes and Yakuza." That's a stupid point because it goes without saying that systems sell because of games.

And software? Look at the top selling games of last year in Japan: http://www.playstationlifestyle.net/2015/01/22/japans-top-100-selling-games-2014-revealed-knack-1-ps4-title/

I assure you that this year will not be much different. You're not looking at the big picture. One week to a few months says nothing; an entire year does.

The wiiu and 3DS get not many games for the rest of the year, playstation gets every month a new japanese game. It will continie that way until the NX launches. That list also shows top not overall system software sales

I understand, from a consumer point of you, why you would want things to happen (and in a large part they will, just slower), but from Japan centric point of view, the PS4 is doing barely better than its home console competitor (wii u), and is doing really horrible when compared gaming centric comptitor (3DS), and in the end that still doesn't change the fact mobiles are becoming even bigger than those markets.

It is really funny that the Wii U is even competition to something like PS4 in any market.

Because they totally launched at the same time, right?

Wii U after 70 week: 1.7 million

PS4 after 70 week: 1.5 million

Seriusly, stop. Accept that the PS4 is selling worse than the Wii U.

PS4 is selling worse even than the Sega Saturn...

That's right. The saturn sold more than the  PSX the first first couple of year (in Japan). N64 never passed the Saturn in Japan.

That's not fair. The saturn sold more than the others in the first coupld of year (in Japan).

You agreed, bad comparation.

Just realise Saturn sold pretty good in Japan firsts year, nearly at N64 level...

Mobile gaming is only a trend it could collapse like atari did in the 70s. Eventually people get sick about microtransactions, many bad games and the controls.

N64 was a shadow of the Sega Saturn in Japan.  There is no near about it.
