Forums - Sony - Sony: The Last Guardian needs to sell better than Ico and Shadow Of The Colossus

I believe Shu has said that a team of only 20 people has been working on the game... so i'm sure its not the end of the world. Only if they plan to squander alot of money advertising.

Hate to see this atitude from the higher ups trying to influence development for the sake of possible sales. Now they even have the gall to say it publicly. I really don't like it.

I say let the developers do what they want and looking at the scope of the project you decide on wich business model fits and how far you go with spending.

That shouldn't be too hard. And Shu said it wasn't very expensive anyway

And you believed that?

He's never been one to hide away from hard truths in the past, so i don't see why we'd assume he was lying here. I don't doubt its final cost will be a fair bit more than they originally planned, but we're talking relative to very large sums of money here.

OT: Games like LTG, Ico, and SotC are inherently niche to a degree, but i'd surprised if it wasn't able to at least pass SotC's 1.2m~. Assuming it's a good as its predecessors, anyway.

It wasn't very expensive but it has to do better?

Because it was more expensive than both of them.

So what/who would you rather have us believe?

In this article he says that 'the amounts of money is too great' in making games like TLG. So even if the game isn't very expensive, Sony is still spending a lot of money on the game.

You don't say?

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

It's a very artistic and a Japanse game, I highly doubt it's even going to break even. 2.5 million lifetime

2.5 Million would be very good for this game. I think they would be happy with that.

Team Ico hasn't released games since the PS2 days (not counting remasters). Unless these guys helped other studios develop games during that period I fail to see how this could ever be profitable.

This much anticipation and hype will inevitably lead to disappointment, regardless of how the game turns out to be in both quality and sales.
E3 clip looked nice, but I found it very slow-paced. Hopefully the game does not insist on the little kid commenting every step he takes, that would drive me insane.

I think the game will do OK, probably not at the top of the charts, but I expect it to make much better returns on investment than The Order or Knack.
