Forums - Gaming - Bungie Apologizes for Taken King Controversy (CE Items to be Sold Separate)

What in the actual fuck? Am I reading this right?

So if you already laid down $60 for their game (which, arguably, was extremely light on content), and $40 for their two "expansions" (which, factually, were extremely light on content), if you buy the $40 TTK expansion, you don't get the digital extras people get if they buy the $80 edition (half the cost you've paid).

So their "apology" is to sell you some shaders and a few items for $20? God damn. I am beginning to think Destiny is some sort of social experiment from game publishers just to see how much shit they can get away with.

Yes, sadly, you are reading it right.

And by the time one pays a total of $160, they still don't have a complete game, because one quest is behind a Red Bull paywall...and let's not even get started again with XBox people paying the same money for even less content.

At the rate Bungie is going, I wonder why they don't sell a $100 digital T-shirt for your character that has the words "I am gullible" written on it. Not many people are going to own that T-shirt, so anyone who puts down the money will be part of a highly admired exclusive group.

Silly Rol, what you mean is a bungie sleeveless vest with sleves an optional extra for $40.

So, their apology is to give us the chance to buy their products?

Hell, being a PR is easy, i can do this s*** too.

No. Their apology is to give us a way to _not_ have to shell out $60 just to play TTK, now we can pay just $40. This $40 version also gives us some swag.  Before if we wanted the digital collectors edition swag we had to shell out $80, now we can pay just $60 and get all the things.

$40 is the cheapest way to get into TTK and arguably a fairly _normal_ price for what is indeed probably worth two expansions  It's what im going for.  I honestly don't care about extra fluff stuff in a failrly non-social game. There will be plenty of cool looking guns and items to strive for the regular way.

Well, how generous of them :P.

Oh so that's how you're supposed to apologise. I've been doing it wrong all this time.....

About as generous as you're gonna get from activision unless they turn over a new leaf.  I would not hold your breath.  If you seriously disagree with them still then complain some more until they lower the price even more or just don't buy the product.

At this point im currently satisfied.  Others may not be.  That's about all there is to it.

They have actually lost it. $20 for the extras. $20 for a few shaders and dance moves? What the hell are they on? Because it must be bloody strong.

Hmm, pie.

so basically i get the chance to pay for even more content?

You got that wrong, it's not

the chance to pay for even more content

It's

the change to pay even more for content

Hmm, pie.
