What's with all this irrelevant information?

MicroSega would be one company and Sega software would be funded by big daddy M$.

 Blah blah blah

Let me try this again. What I quoted was a guy saying that if M$ and Sega became one  gaming company. If they were one company, they would share the same funds. I was stating the obvious. Read everything Puppyroach said, then maybe it'll become more clear.

No let me try this again because you are clearly not getting it.  It would be awesome if M$ and Sega joined forces where M$ was making the hardware and Sega was providing the software just like you stated.  Oh wait, that is called the original XBOX!!  Haven't you wondered why the original XBox controller was strikingly similar to the Sega Dreamcast controller?  That's because Sega was helping Microsoft develop their hardware while providing software as well.  Have you ever heard of a game called Shenmue II?  That game was exclusive to XBox and Sega Dreamcast.  Oh wait!  That is relevant information to what we are discussing in this thread (Shenmue 3)!!

Yet here you are stating this: http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=7389129

Out of the three major conferences (Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft), you would almost guarantee that Shenmue 3 would come out exclusively on Xbox due to the great partnership with Sega and Sony would be the last company since they are rivals.  Microsoft had 14 YEARS to provide full funding of this project yet we see Sony providing funding and providing exposure on their E3 floor.  So you have a partnership between Sega and Microsoft but where is this full funding from Microsoft?  Stop making false claims and actually read the truth instead of writing "blah blah blah".

I thought all of this information was rather obvious, which is why I skipped over it and provided recent examples of where Microsoft could have funded games but chose to look the other way.  Blame Microsoft for leaving Yu Suzuki out to dry for the past 14 years.  Sony was simply the company to pull him off the street and give him a job.

OK, for the sake of argument, I'll give you answers to thingst that I really didn't care to talk about in this thread. This thread is about how I felt shame to see one of gaming's Gods beg for money.

M$ didn't want to fund Shenmue 3. 2 sold like shit most likely and FYI Sega and M$ didn't join forces. It was a bought exclusive. The way exclusives worked when Sony bought them to fight Nintendo and Sega. Blah blah blah....

I don't care who funds what. I said if Sony fully funded this, I was good with that. Don't make one of my heroes beg for money.

Now back to feelinga. None of this technicality stuff. I felt ashamed man. Feelings are feelings.

So do you feel that it wouldn't be in Microsoft's best interest to have a diversified portfolio of games?

Imagine the announcement at Gamescom:
"Devil May Cry 5 is coming exclusively to XB1."  Sony isn't coming to Gamescom so that will sink in over the next three months until Sony makes their announcements at Paris Games Week.

Then that would be like Rise of Tomb Raider meltdown all over again, only this time Capcom would definitely loses their fans more.

We all know how niche JRPGs on Xbox right? Most of the DMC fans are from Playstation.

I think a better comparison would be Bayonetta 2.  Most of the DMC fans are on Playstation (Bayonetta on PS360) and will then have to pick up an XB1 to play DMC 5 (just like with Nintendo and Bayonetta 2).  Bayonetta 2 was completely funded by Nintendo and quite possibly would have never been made, just like we are seeing with DMC 5.  We would have had complaints by the misinformed, but I would rather have a game than not have one at all.

The Tomb Raider meltdown is an entirely different story since the game was initally announced as multiplatform, but was later announced as timed exclusive.

JRPGs are niche on Xbox, I completely agree.  Does that mean that Microsoft should abandon this genre all together and focus on the same boring genres for years to come?  Why even bother staying in the gaming industry if you aren't here to reach out to a larger audience.

Success breeds complacency. Complacency breeds failure.  Only the paranoid survive.

Son¥ and Yu Suzuki, should've came out clean on this right after the show.
One of Son¥ hypebeast, couldn't hold his tongue and spilled the beans to the demise of Shenmue funding campaign.

Sega is not involved in this and not a single time they mentioned sega on stage, sega did not beg for money. I dont know what conference you guys watch.

That is the problem right there and that is why Sega has failed this franchise and it made Suzuki look like a begger.

I think you got things twisted here, the franchise failed Sega, not the other way round.

A primary reference from the microsoft website itself stating multiple times about the partnership between Sega and Microsoft.  They also went on to state that Sega would provide software to the Xbox console by providing "many of Sega's upcoming games".

https://news.microsoft.com/2001/03/30/sega-and-microsoft-team-up-for-strategic-xbox-alliance/

Shenmue 3 was voted as XB1's most requested game.  M$ might have not wanted to fund the game, but the fans surely wanted it.  I thought they listen to the gamers:

http://www.xb1.co.uk/xbox-one-news/shemnue-3-voted-xbox-ones-most-wanted-game/

however Phil Spencer states that that can't fund the game because "it's a Sega game" yet Sony managed to do what M$ deemed impossible one year later:

http://www.gamespot.com/articles/xbox-s-phil-spencer-biggest-request-i-get-is-to-bring-back-shenmue/1100-6418687/

If you feel that Yu Suzuki is begging for money at a "charity" event, then that is your opinion.  Just keep in mind who Sega partnered with 14 years ago and who left him in this state with tattered clothes.  Again, Sony just gave him the money and exposure to make a long awaited game that fans seem to have wanted a long time ago.  Rather than feeling sad for the guy, you should feel happy and excited for a guy that has been forgotten for such a long time.  He has simply been given a second chance by none other than Sega's rival.

Needfully harsh.

Ok, cool..

Now let's talk about feelings. Don't make this a one way thing. Where you fuck somebody and not want to cuddle.  How did you feel? We're you excited? Did he look happy to you that he was asking for funding?

I was sad for the man. He looked like he hasn't had a descent haircut in a while and maybe he might have bloody gums. You know? Like he can't afford to go to the dentist. That kind of feeling. It's like seeing your dad get old and he can't take care of himself anymore. That kind of feeling.

So instead of paying for exclusives, we are now holding charities.

How is it a charity, when you pay $30, and get the game in return?
Or pay more to get artbooks and other things that you want?

Do you think publishers were lining up outside of Yu Suzuki's door for the past 15 years, begging him to make Shenmue 3 for them?
No one wanted to back it, because they didn't believe it would be profitable. Kickstarter is a way to gauge that the interest is actually there, and you get the game in return for supporting it. Because people claiming that they would buy it doesn't translate into actual sales. Developers know this full well.

You guys are thinking too heavily on technicalities. This thread has to do with feelings. How as a Sega fan, I felt watching this. Homie looked like a homeless guy in need. Poor guy

Well you gotta be realistic. If the project hasn't been able to get off the ground for almost 15 years, then there's a realistic chance that it may never happen that way. So he decided to go a different rout.
Also, Sega are not involved in this, other than letting Yu Suzuki use the Shenmue I.P.

Yeah, but it still sad to see one of your heroes, one of the Sega Knights who once battled the forces of evil, have to resort to asking for money. Sega has disappointed me once again.

Now let's talk about those deep down mushy gooey things we call feelings :)

I mean the guy did look older due to him balding and I guess bloody gums haha.  Sadly, that just comes with age. :(  One thing that I would have changed would be to provide the guy with a nice suit and tie to announce this huge reveal so it didn't seem like a huge "charity" event as you have stated.

When the announcement hit, I was overwhelmed with joy.  To experience what I and many gamers felt around the world, just watch this video:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IsS0fWIo9FY

----------------

On the flipside, I was equally met with confusion as to why this huge announcement was revealed with kickstarter instead of Sony funding this game completely.  This confusion later went away when Adam Boyes explained Sony's involvement with Shenmue 3:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-dL198n2d0o  You only need to watch from about 00:25-2:15

With a key emphasis when Adam Boyes stated that Yu Suzuki was back stage with a box of tissues after the Shenmue 3 annoucement (1:55-2:00) in the video above.

-----------------

You can also see Yu Suzuki's own comments about the release of Shenmue 3 shown here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yPgiRIR07qU

Most noteably at 00:40-1:30 where he asks Yu Suzuki about the announcement.

OP we get it. You feel so bad about the way Shenmue 3 will be possible so you won't buy the game.

Nintendo is selling their IPs to Microsoft and this is true because:
