So do you feel that it wouldn't be in Microsoft's best interest to have a diversified portfolio of games?

Imagine the announcement at Gamescom:
"Devil May Cry 5 is coming exclusively to XB1."  Sony isn't coming to Gamescom so that will sink in over the next three months until Sony makes their announcements at Paris Games Week.

Then that would be like Rise of Tomb Raider meltdown all over again, only this time Capcom would definitely loses their fans more.

We all know how niche JRPGs on Xbox right? Most of the DMC fans are from Playstation.

I think a better comparison would be Bayonetta 2.  Most of the DMC fans are on Playstation (Bayonetta on PS360) and will then have to pick up an XB1 to play DMC 5 (just like with Nintendo and Bayonetta 2).  Bayonetta 2 was completely funded by Nintendo and quite possibly would have never been made, just like we are seeing with DMC 5.  We would have had complaints by the misinformed, but I would rather have a game than not have one at all.

The Tomb Raider meltdown is an entirely different story since the game was initally announced as multiplatform, but was later announced as timed exclusive.

JRPGs are niche on Xbox, I completely agree.  Does that mean that Microsoft should abandon this genre all together and focus on the same boring genres for years to come?  Why even bother staying in the gaming industry if you aren't here to reach out to a larger audience.

Success breeds complacency. Complacency breeds failure.  Only the paranoid survive.
