We always say that each generation and each generation the outcome is the same.

No, we have said this for one gen.

We said it for Wii, we said it for Wii U, we say it now for NX. I count three.

Nintendo going multiplatform seems more plausible the more interviews they provide. I don't think shareholders are happy with what's going on and sooner or later selling games is what's mattering

I used to think like that too, but if they do that then they will end up like Sega.

Watch Nintendo makes a console just as powerful as PS4 with Gamepad 2.0 in late 2017.

Noooooo! Please nooooo!

Of course they won't do it. They didn't make Wiimote 2.0, even less a gamepad 2.0.

This would be terrible really.

Nintendo is really in a tough situation:

- Release a new console now with the same horse power as PS4Bone and takes the risk of being ignored.

- Wait until Sony and MS announce the 9th gen and match their specs, but in the mean time struggle with WiiU low sales and unsatisfied investors.

So they are going to do the same mistake with NX... -_-

Little by little, I am losing interest in NX before it has even come out.

What Miyamoto fails to realize is that consoles nowadays have standards that have been set. No you don't have to be the very best with hardware to win, but comprimising a set of good hardware specs for a gimmick is an absolute injustice for developers and customers

Good. Be comparable to XB1 and PS4 in terms of power but with Nintendo flavor and games. Be insanely cheap to port to so 3rd parties have virtually no barrier of entry. Provide a single platform for portable and home console experiences with unified digital/VC offerings.

$$

It will be much more powerfull than ps4 and x1 just like wii u is much more powerfull than ps360.

I think its time Miyamoto should retire, clearly people at Nintendo have a hard time reading the market trends. They should let younger people do the decisions, and have more foreigners in the decision making, like Sony. Which listens to Europe, America and Japan equally.

I had a feeling this would be the case. Why would they release a console weaker than ps4 or xbox one in the middle of this gen?

Edit: "We're not interested in high end specs" ... Well, I guess more people will not be interested in Nintendo.

Actually thats not correct.  People will be interested in the NX if it offer something different and better than the PS4 or X1.  I rather Big N take risk and do their own thing then go into the hardware war and just be another one of the crowd.  a decent price with innovative tech that will get my money since I love Nintendo games.

I love Nintendo games as well, but I will not spend money on another Wii like console. I would rather stick with their handhelds.

I don't know what they plan on doing, but making another console that 3rd parties won't support is not a good idea. If they can get rid of their game droughts, and they can't do it without 3rd parties, then they'd be solving their biggest problem. I don't believe specs were the biggest reason people didn't buy a Wii U, but there are a lot of people interested in specs and it definitely was one of the reasons. A powerful console will get a lot of people on board. If Wii U had Xbox One like graphics, or even just under, it would have sold more consoles. Specs do matter, not to everyone, but to say that's incorrect is false.

They don't have to above Sony and MS, they just need to be closer to them than Wii U is. Going with a console that is only as strong as the previous gen or weaker is a big mistake IMO.

Neither are sony or microsoft, with their mid end machines.

Both MS and Sony push to the limits, what they can sell you for those 400$.

When you sell something and make little to no profit on the sales themselfs, you cant really complain.

Do you want MS & Sony to start selling 600$+ consoles again?

Yes I do lol. I want to see a 20x jmp next gen. Hell people pay more for a mobile phone that they will use for a year or two tops.

In fairness to Nintendo price point is important and this will be the first console generation where the more powerful system has won ever (so history until now anyways has implied power not matter as much as we would like) of course part of that success may also be that the PS4 is also the first time ever that the more powerful system has cost less than one of its competitors.

PS1 and PS2 were not that far behind their competition though.

Also reason you seeing PS4 winning now (apart from Micrososft and Nintendo royally fucking up) is partially because gamers are getting older and their disposable income has gone up so they can afford to go for the best at only $400.
