Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo: We didn't want to show "wonderful footage" of Zelda WiiU and disappoint fans at E3

People keep posting stuff Reggie says and act surprised or make all the same reactions... but I think you all should know by now why Reggie says this stuff to begin with.

If you don't know what he's doing, he's basically telling people something to try to calm them down, because the real reason would likely not be as effective on the average person. Do you think Reggie cares about people like us, who knows this isn't true?

I think you underestimate how informed the kind of gamers who would bother to read this news are. If you're online reading an article about a statement Reggie made regarding Zelda, chances are you're informed enough to know it's bullshit.

Truly disheartening to see when one of the top brass in a company uses such excuses to state as to why one of their heavy hitters wasn't present.

He's been generating a lot of good quotes as of late. Can he make more? I guess we'll find out.

Edited. Sleepy...

I understand Nintendo fans. This is just like salt in the wound. I felt the same after watching Mass Effect 3 extended ending.

Well Dare-San, I felt 2x worse to find out after said game launched was that the writers for Mass Effect 3 deliberately changed the ending months before release. There still isn't any conclusive reasoning as to why this done either; EA Games and BioWare ignoring it all together.

Back on topic, would this mean that Nintendo is saving some gameplay footage for the Tokyo Game Show? If not, will we see Zelda U in a Nintendo Direct?

Nintendo doesn't attend TGS. It's also unlikely that we'll see the game in a Direct, unless Nintendo feels that there was so much backlash that they have to show new footage to appease the fans. Otherwise, it will probably be shown again at the time when Nintendo unveils their next generation hardware; that could be next E3. The game will release on Wii U too, just like Twilight Princess for the GameCube. Given the development timeframe of the game, it just makes too much sense to repeat the same strategy and have Zelda as a launch title for the new hardware.

Well Rol-San, if that's the case, then I guess as gamers, we will have to hear more news next year.

I am still not too disappointed though. Xenoblade Chronicles X, Yoshis Wholly World, Fast Racing Neo, Fatal Frame and others will suffice.

“We where concerned that, by showing wonderful footage of the game, it would lead to further disappointment on behalf of the fans,” said Fils Aime in an interview with GameSpot. “So, that was the judgement call that we made.”

“There will be plenty of other opportunities for us to showcase that game,” he continued, “and certainly for those us that have seen that game–like me–and have seen how the game progressing; no fears, it’s going to be wonderful.”

The Legend of Zelda Wii U is expected to hit sometime in 2016.

What the hell? It's like Reggie got a second job writing for The Onion.

Currently (Re-)Playing: Starcraft 2: Legacy of the Void Multiplayer, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past

Currently Watching: The Shield, Stein's;Gate, Narcos

I understand what he is saying, but it was still a mistake.

Check the link below. (note to Admins: it's not really porn please don't ban me!)

Reggie style PR Spin....

"We did not show Zelda because it would disappoint fans."

What he meant to saw Zelda is so awesome that people would not be able to handle seeing such epic footage, and then not be able to play it.

Nintendo did not show Zelda out of mercy for its fans. Now that's what we need more of a company that is looking out for its fanbase.

psn- tokila

add me, the more the merrier.

Hahahaahahahahahahaaha
It's like 2005-2006 again

Of course they are going to show us more footage next E3, the NX version.
But I believe they are going to show us the game, if the backslash keep going, this year. If not, early next year, at least before E3.

Predictions for Nintendo NX and Mobile

Nintendo needs to learn what E3 is about to the people who post about it on forums. The only thing that really matters to those folks is hype, plain and simple. If they want to appeal to those folks, they should have played the trailer: I can guarantee it would have caused dominoes to fall much more in their favor through the rest of E3.
