I think its a big misunderstanding of what Nintendo authoriries were saying.

1. I never saw Iwata saying NX is the console. He speaks of it as of platform.

Reggie refered to it as a console: "Our next console, NX, which we'll be talking about in 2016"

And Kensuke Tanabe pretty much confirmed that it is a home console: "If we started [Metroid Prime 4] for Wii U now, it would likely take three years or so. So it would likely now be on Nintendo's NX console," he said.

Obviously he is refering to NX as a home console, because there's no reasont to move development of a home console Metroid to a portable console. (Different market, controller, power, etc.)

Can you give me a direct link to Reggie's and Tanabe words? 
Tanabe could be a mistranslation.

The only new console they've already announced publically is the NX. Hence NX = the next home console.

On Tanabe it could be easyly be something like 'So it would likely now be on Nintendo's next console', just misheard or spinned by journalists. 

Reggies words just confirming that they working on next home console. Which we know since WiiU launched. 'Much later' could mean anything. He also speaks here nothing about this home console will be out before next portative console. 

Thats what I'm trying to say. We have no facts on NX, except it will be spoken about next year. Just people spinning the facts the way they want it to see. Mostly its WiiU doom lovers and people who eager for Nintendo to dreamkast itself and go 3rd party after that.

No, Reggie said something obvious. He said the next home console was in development. The next home console is always in development from any of the big three. If you asked a Sony game division head, I'm sure they would tell you they're already hard at work researching what the PS5 will be. If you ask a Microsoft game division head, they'd assuredly tell you research is already underway for what the next Microsoft console should look like. It's common sense, not an amazing revelation.

Want to know what has been officially revealed about the NX? It's coming. That's it. That is a summary of all of the confirmed NX information we have. We don't know if it's a console, a handheld, a development platform, or some kind of hybrid device. We don't know if it's meant to replace current hardware, supplement current hardware, or supplement the next generation of hardware. We know literally nothing about it. If you want to assert what you know as a theory, go for it. This thread is just another theory using the one or two incredibly vague clues that we've had since that conference where Nintendo uttered NX for the first time. Asserting your leaps in logic as fact though is just silly.

On Tanabe, you can't just assume that it's a spin or that he has been misquoted, just because you don't want to believe it, unless there's any indication of it. He was quoted saying "NX".

If its going to last like 6years.... that means by the end of 2019 or start of 2020... we could see another Playstation.

BTW: people from nintendo and also developers have called NX the "next console".

Those people that think its a platform are wrong... unless everyone at nintendo is just trolling people.

Well, one year before they announced the NX they've already said that they were working on both home console and handled console, so when Reggie said "The console we've previously announced", it can be both.

it doesnt need to last it can be dead or whatever happens to it.. its still better to have a ready to go consoles with third parties than Wii U scenario which Nintendo also stated it was rushed.

Actually that isn't guaranteed. That is why there was all that speculation that NX is a android type platform that works on multiple devices.

There could very well be more than one NX platform, and one being a portable, but what Reggie was talking about here was the Home Console version of NX.

Please, get some logic lessons, man. Reggie talks about next Nintendo home console. Is this home console related to NX and what is that NX (or QOL also) - we just don't know).

You realize when they say publicly, they don't have to mean at a conference or an event, right? They could have said it to some journalists, that of course they were working on their hardware successor. It isn't as if everything they say publicly gets shoveled into a Nintendo Direct or a conference presentation. Also, way to post a Kotaku article that managed to get "hardware successor incoming" from "the NX is a thing....we'll talk more about it eventually". Of course, it's Kotaku. It's not exactly reliable gaming journalism.
