Reggie refered to it as a console: "Our next console, NX, which we'll be talking about in 2016"
And Kensuke Tanabe pretty much confirmed that it is a home console: "If we started [Metroid Prime 4] for Wii U now, it would likely take three years or so. So it would likely now be on Nintendo's NX console," he said.
Obviously he is refering to NX as a home console, because there's no reasont to move development of a home console Metroid to a portable console. (Different market, controller, power, etc.)

The only new console they've already announced publically is the NX. Hence NX = the next home console.

On Tanabe it could be easyly be something like 'So it would likely now be on Nintendo's next console', just misheard or spinned by journalists.
Reggies words just confirming that they working on next home console. Which we know since WiiU launched. 'Much later' could mean anything. He also speaks here nothing about this home console will be out before next portative console.
Thats what I'm trying to say. We have no facts on NX, except it will be spoken about next year. Just people spinning the facts the way they want it to see. Mostly its WiiU doom lovers and people who eager for Nintendo to dreamkast itself and go 3rd party after that.
