Actually, Brawl is generally considered a 2.5d game, which is a game that has 3d graphics, but the gameplay only exists within 2 dimensions. |

| sc94597 said: The ds is more powerful than the n64 in specs and efficiency why don't they make all games 3d . Even the ps1 which is way less as powerful had a large number of 3d games. Does anybody have a ratio of 3d to 2d games. |
Of course the PS1 had a lot of 3D games. Sony (and Nintendo) had a 3D only policy for the first few years.
What you are ignoring are factors such as artistic choice and money.
A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.
Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs
Because its cheaper and easier to do.
Alright everybody I came to the conclusion by the help of alot of people that the main reason is that it's alot more expensive. The games would = psp lvl in dollars and nintendo and other devs don't want to go that way.

That's not the best conclusion you could come to, I think by reading this thread...
why?
*much cheaper to do 2D than 3D
*much less expensive.
*less the need for bigger storage size.
Bigger budget games, FF spin-offs, MKarts will have 3D elements in it.
But why make a 3D games that's outside of your ability (and will turn out crappy) when you can make an average 2D game?
Soriku (Feb 10/08): In 5 years the PS3/360 will be dead.

Cuz 2d RULEZ!
Actually it does... ;) I love 2d games, I don't mind if a game is 2.5d as long as the characters look as good as they would if they were 2d. The DS is the last safe house for 2d games. I happen to love it!
Prepare for termination! It is the only logical thing to do, for I am only loyal to Megatron.
It's harder to concentrate on a typical 3D game compared to a more simple style 2D game.
With the DS's relatively small screen and the whole handheld aspect, 2D games make the most sense. A game like NSMB mixes 3D characters with 2D gameplay...easy to pick up and play no matter where are you, compared to Mario 64DS, which I would argue is a little harder to just pick up and go no matter your situation. It's harder to focus on such games I think.

LEFT4DEAD411.COM
Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release. (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )
I also came up with another good reason why most games are 2d. Most adults (like my mom) like 2d games better. My mom gets confused and dizzy from 3d games. SHe bought a snes for herself and played the crap out of it when I was like 3. So if nintendo/3rd parties want to sell they need to target nongamers and casuals. This means that 2d games are a better choice because they make more money by spending less money.
