Forums - Sony - GOW:COO Bombs + PSP Sales DECREASE----WTF?

Stupid software pirates. They're definitely the PSP's worst enemy, and could lead to an earlier EOL for the system than Sony would like.

@leo-j

maybe we should wait and let FFVII get rated by IGN, gt, Gspot...n all of them

it will probably not be as high but FFVII CC is a must buy

FF7:CC & GT 5 prologue are games I shouldn't miss

& I shouldn't miss revising for exams..

 GT 5p is out in two weeks, exams are in two months

@munke111

I know but I havn't done anything no revision, + french speaking tests coming up in soon

+ I do not have the money to buy 3 games even if they all cost £20 (ofocurse I'll be importing FF7CC from USA for £17)

From what I see, PSP games usually have very low debutes but they stay in the charts for a VERY long time! Take Jean D'Arc for example, it debuted with a poor 3k and now it's standing at over 100k so I guess Chains of Olympus will sell a million copies in the US by the year's end.

That's only my opinion of course, I could be proven false but I think that's going to happen to Crisis Core as well!

1/2 million is much more reasonable goal right now. Frankly, that's still impressive.

As for PSP sales, there simply isn't a game out there that tells people to go buy it. Take Nintendogs or Brain Age for example. People who had zero interest picked up a DS because they heard of those games.

GoW doesn't have that kind of pull. At the end of the day, it's an action game. A totally fantastic action game but an action game nonetheless. It won't bring in new blood required to boost hardware sales.

If you want a game to boost PSP sales it really needs to think outside the box AND appeal to those outside the PSP crowd AND get heavy advertising. GoW has exactly one of these factors, good advertising.

There is no such thing as a console war. This is the first step to game design.

its not a flop the sales are good for the first week.

I don't see how GoW bombed, it sold pretty well.

I'm buying the bundle when it comes out...I'm sure quite a few others will be too....

Easy 1.5 million seller if not 2 million (look at what bundling did for Daxter).

Well, gow on the Ps2 opened to 166k, and now it's a 3 million seller.

By contrast gow:coo opened to 150k, so I think it could at least sell 1 million.

That's a very different situation. It was a new IP on a console with a history of selling games with strong legs. This is a tested IP on a console with a history of rarely selling a copy after the first couple weeks. 1 million is extremely unlikely, and I'm not sure what Bod's reasoning is behind this hitting 1 million.

PSP games have a history of poor legs, and God of War as a franchise sells 1/3 as much in Others and Japan combined as it does in America. 1 million is very very unlikely.

I wouldn't say that. Most PSP games open with a terrible 5-15k start and finish around 100-200k.
