Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo E3 shows that this is a transition year

Oh god... can we stop with these threads? I understand that you are disappointed with the E3 on a whole when it comes to Wii U (cause it was amazing for a 3DS owner) but seriously, Lack of late 2016 games shows what? They said no late 2016 games. They said none. I don't understand why so many of you guys got overhyped. I even said not to get over hyped. We get directs year in and year out and most of their big guns were released before E3. Nintendo could have held back the devil's third and other game information for E3 but they didn't. Oh well. I enjoyed some parts of it the skylanders part and amiibo annoyed me but other than that I truly didn't see anything wrong. The big titles may not be there but that doesn't mean anything. sigh, I'm also pretty sure nintendo hasn't announced all of their info yet just like they had 3 more game reveals at last year E3 after the event.

Nintendo announced two new WiiU games, both coming this year.. Where are the early 2016 WiiU titles?

Since next year will be pokemon 20th anniversary, i think nintendo will release the next pokemon game for one of its lauch titles for the NX. Since i dont think nintendo announced any games for the Wii U or on the 3DS which will release in the 2nd half of 2016. Maybe just Zelda.

So far, i think it was only SMT x FE.

Didn't Sony phase out the PS3 with The Last of Us?

I'm still hoping that something like Wario Land or Punch-Out comes out next year for the WiiU, because I don't care too much for SMT x FE..

At this point 3DS has a better 2016 line up than Wii U (in the West).

3DS has Metroid Prime: Federation Force, Yokoi Watch (Europe), Fire Emblem: Fates, and Super Jam Bros/Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam, along with Bravely Second (right?), Happy Home Designer and Zelda: Triforce Heroes before Christmas.

Wii U heading up to Christmas (dates are European) has Yoshi's Woolly World (June), Splatoon updates until the major update in August, Devil's Third (August), Super Mario Maker (September), Animal Crossing: Amiibo Party ('holidays'), Star Fox Zero ('holidays'), Mario Tennis ('holidays'), and Xenoblade Chronicles X (December). Fatal Frame V is also coming to the West in 2015, I'm going to assume that's an October release.

2016, Wii U has Fire Emblem x Shin Megami Tensei. Project Treasure and Pokken Tournament are possible 2016 titles.

If you assume they're first half titles, along with Smash DLC (character poll is still ongoing), and one or two other announcements, Wii U and 3DS could actually be enjoying a decent transition to NX, assuming NX launches in 2016 with Zelda as a cross-platform title. Notably, Nintendo released a future releases image for 3DS/Wii U which suggests there are more 2016 titles to come. This could be another poorly presented E3 from Nintendo, where they've chosen not to talk about 2016 titles not because of a lack of them, but because they thought emphasising the next six months on Wii U was more important. Time will tell.

I have to agree with you.

The lack of any kind of news of what EAD or even Retro is doing, and both those studios have had time enough to work on something and show it, speaks for itself.

Retro studios are working on a new WIIU engine, not an NX engine, lol.

If they aren't developing a WiiU game, why are they working on a new engine for it?

Rumors said that they were working on a WiiU engine, but with no game to show it, they could have changed the development of that engine for NX (because I'm going to assume that Nintendo knows what hardware will be inside), and are using it to develop a NX game.

Please excuse my bad English.

Maybe it just wasn't ready? :|
Though I do have to say that even though this is a WiiU engine, Retro's gonna use it for future platforms (Why are people so stubborn about NX being a homeconsole? lol), just like how the Metroid Prime engine of 2002 was used for DKCTF in 2014.

Clearly by the boring and lack of quality content fill E3 shows that this is the last year of support of Wii U and probably 3DS. The lack of quality titles and the lack of any late 2016 games shows that the NX is coming 2016 and they have there studios working on a bunch of NX games.

Completely agree. Hopefully NX home releases 2017 though, with Handeld NX next year if anything.
