Forums - Gaming - FF VII Remake : It could only be on PS4 and PC, situation similar to SF V

Yeah but the logical conclusion in that case would be that Sony would simply just say "Playstation 4 and PC exclusive". I mean why not? That certainly sounds better than "on PS4 first".

I'm starting to think NX might be in play for this as well.

No they wouldnt since they made a deal where they are allowed to release it first on PS4,  its for a reason, so why talk about the PC version now ? They make it blurry by saying " first on PS4 " , it sounds more like an exclusive than " exclusively on PC and PS4 " ( they made that for  SFV because the game is made to be cross platform)

I think you're kinda reaching here. Even if the PC version was somewhat doubtful, Sony would no doubt have been yelling "Console exclusive for the PS4!!!" off every roof top at E3 if that was the case.

Like I said NX could be the wild card here that we don't know about but perhaps Square-Enix does.

Japan as a market is not what is was 20 years ago when FF7 first released. Today Japan's biggest traditional game platforms are handhelds, we know that. So it wouldn't exactly stun me if they are eying a NX version if not just the XB1.

There could be more variables in place here than we know about is all I'm saying.

No, probably PC eventually though. This is another SF5 situation

That makes sense since Square said many times they couldnt handle such remake, so they certainly needed help to do it.

No. Its more like Tomb Raider. Its coming first to Playstation as a timed exclusive. Unlike Microsoft Sony didnt emebellish upon the truth though. They don't have to explain anything afterwards because of some retaliation post reveal. FF is coming home first to the console that started the new era for the FF franchise.

This timed exclusivity makes Tomb Raider pale in comparison and Microsoft for ever trying.

Maybe... but we can almost be certain that it's going to be a PS4 exclusive in Japan which boost PS4 sales like crazy.

I actually don't think Square-Enix is eying MS so much as they might be eying Nintendo. If NX can run the game, especially as a portable, that could be a lot of extra sales for Square-Enix, perhaps even outselling the PS4 version in Japan since Japan is so portable crazed.

Not saying that's going to happen, but just illustrating a possibility.

NX would probably be able to run it as a console but theres no way a handheld is running this other than off screen play through WiFi... which is technically not really "handheld".

Unless they jsut wanted to be honest and not mislead people by explaining them the game will come on an other platform, but not telling which.

I dont think a all new console would get such a big game jsut like that, and the deal would have been made before anyway, so even if the console turns to be huge, they cant know that now.

Predictions for end of 2014 HW sales:

 PS4: 17m   XB1: 10m    WiiU: 10m   Vita: 10m

Game is eons away from release. SE could be reluctant to keep it exclusive. They might be gauging to see how well FFXV does on X1 and potentially how well NX does when it launches.

Well i tend to trust Kagari since he is a very trustable person, and never made a mistake when he gave us informations so wait and see , there are a lot of informations that would lead us to believe him.

If NX is the successor to the 3DS, I don't think it's really much of a reach to say it will be the dominant game platform in Japan fairly quickly. That's just how the Japanese market is these days.

FFVII is as exclusive to the PS4 as Tomb Raider 2 is exclusive to XBOX One.

But if they jsut dont have the prototype in their hand yet, they cant know if it could handle the game, so it's too far away to include that variable in the deal, or it could just be not enough powerful if the game is high standards remake.

3DS is the most sold console and still, FF XV wont be on it despite the japanese market

It said its coming first to Playstation at the end of the view. Its was very quick, but it was there. Xbox is definitely getting it, but later. Sony is going to make Microsoft eat it for taking Tomb Raider. Another game that built its popularity on the back of Playstation.
