It just boggles my mind how you still can't change your weapons in real time after the umpteenth iteration. That really breaks the flow of the game. They should implement something like in the Zelda games.

The dance weapon and animations looked great though, especially the break dancing boss.

And what is this new Clank gameplay? Haven't seen it.

You do have a quick change in weapons by tapping triangle, although that's not quite changing weapons in real time. It might just be that I've gotten used to it, but the weapon changing doesn't bother me, it goes so quickly after some practice (which I have enough of when it comes to R&C ) that it's barely a blink.

They've only mentioned the Clank gameplay in an interview, and they said they weren't quite ready to show it off yet, so I'm not sure what it is.

Frankly though, I couldn't care less about how innovative it is, as long as it's smashing fun.

Well, I was only voicing my personal opinion. Some people prefer fresh experiences, others prefer tried and proven gameplay.

Hey, Sony's money and Insomniac's talent is a great combo. :-p

Definitely a better combo than Insomniacs talent and EAs money. :D

It appears so.

I wanted to like Fuse, but it was poorly paced and dull.

What the actual. Ratchet and Clank is a series that haS tried new things, figured out what works, what doesn't, and now they're taking what they feel is the best part of all of those experiments, and putting them together into a series reboot, and you're criticizng them for it.

We get it. Nintendo is the best, every other video game company wishes they were that awesome. You win. Please go back to playing Splatoon and thinking how jealous PS4 players must be for missing out on such a unique experience, and we'll get back to talking about Ratchet and Clank. Cool?

There will be innovation in the weapons, the over the shoulder aim from Into the Nexus which made the gameplay even better will still be there, and the new weapon upgrade system from Into the Nexus will also be there, and the jetpack from Into the Nexus might be there (Insomniac teased it). Honestly this game isn't here to innovate. It isn't a reboot, as the story fits perfectly into the canon (it is the same story with some additions) , they're just updating the first game as it was so vastly different from the later entries. Into the Nexus had tons of innovation. Don't know how much innovation you expect from each and every entry... And also have you heard about the brand new Clank gameplay that is in the game? Doesn't that count as something new?

It just boggles my mind how you still can't change your weapons in real time after the umpteenth iteration. That really breaks the flow of the game. They should implement something like in the Zelda games.

The dance weapon and animations looked great though, especially the break dancing boss.

And what is this new Clank gameplay? Haven't seen it.

That's been an option in most games in the series. Freezing the game is normally a setting that can be turned off. They took it out of ItN I believe because people don't use it at all anymore

You should check out my YouTube channel, The Golden Bolt!  I review all types of video games, both classic and modern, and I also give short flyover reviews of the free games each month on PlayStation Plus to tell you if they're worth downloading.  After all, the games may be free, but your time is valuable!

Don't hold me to that 100% though. It HAD to be real time switching in the first game, and I believe it was an option in GC and UYA. I think DL removed it by accident and it was put back in for ToD. But I never used the non-freeze quick select screen because I preferred the quick freeze so I may have a few of those mixed up.

How would you do that when you have more than 10 weapons? They can keep it real time, but that would be a huge disadvantage when you're surrounded by hoards or battling a boss. A lot of the bosses at least on the hardest difficulty which I pick in Ratchet and Clank will probably require you to use all your ammo from most weapons to beat. That would be really hard to do if you had to switch weapons so many times in real time.

Their current system seems fine to me. The quick select wheel gets you what you need quickly (and the time-freeze function can be turned off if the player likes, though few seem to), and you can cycle through your most recent weapons with a button tap. I can't really think of a more efficient way of dealing with 20~ frequently used weapons and gadgets.
