Different people like different games, there's nothing wrong with that. The issue arises when people don't understand that, and get it into their head that their tastes are the right ones.

Having complaints about a console or game is fine, going overboard and saying that "anyone who plays such and such is stupid" crosses the line. I personally tend to try and enjoy most games without early judgement (wonderful 101, playstation all stars, kid icarus uprising,etc.). However it is only when a company blatantly makes choices that go against the consumer that I become critical (forcing less options, over-pricing, failing to provide standards that the competition created,...)

Read all comments here and no one has mentioned the fact that that each three console companies have first party games whose fate is tied to the continued success of said consoles' sales. A console stumbles and could go the path of Sega, company that could be in a worse situation, yes, but isn't that good either right now.

If a company finds itself in peril and sees no way to continue in the gaming industry then the fate of titles like Halo, Gears of War, Mario, Pokemon, Zelda, Gran Turismo, Killzone, etc. is uncertain. We can all wish for the best but the fact is that their fate is uncertain and no one can tell for sure what will happen to those game franchises.

I enjoy games from all companies because I enjoy games from so many different genres, but when it comes to priorities, in a console competition like the one we have, game franchises like Uncharted, God of War and any spiritual successor to Ico and Shadow of the Colossus are a priorities for me as a gamer. If other companies ought to vanish and see death for the sake of those franchises continued releases then so be it, their deaths are more than welcomed.

I do feel you, and as someone who plays and likes sports game, I do wish people did just dismiss them so quickly.

Because not everyone can enjoy all games.. there are genres that I don't really like and tend not to play but when it comes to respect, that's a different thing.

Just a heads up. It's been proven countless times that people don't bother reading OPs, only the title. The title of your thread is a bit misleading so if you want a better discussion, you many wanna change it. Unfortunately, a few will read your edit.

This is what I currently have but I will get an xbox one hopefully next month or august.  

I'm probably one of the few people that will give a game I have never heard of a try. Countless games last generation in genres i have never plaed i enjoyed. It's a toss up though. LikeSome people praise games and then you try it but you dont see what the big deal is versus some games where noone talks about it and it is totally awesome.  Also, I personally prefer playstation and nintendo but I do play some microsoft games so i'm not entirely one sided. However At the beginning of the generation I did swear i would not get an xbox due to the policies but look at how times change
