Read all comments here and no one has mentioned the fact that that each three console companies have first party games whose fate is tied to the continued success of said consoles' sales. A console stumbles and could go the path of Sega, company that could be in a worse situation, yes, but isn't that good either right now.
If a company finds itself in peril and sees no way to continue in the gaming industry then the fate of titles like Halo, Gears of War, Mario, Pokemon, Zelda, Gran Turismo, Killzone, etc. is uncertain. We can all wish for the best but the fact is that their fate is uncertain and no one can tell for sure what will happen to those game franchises.
I enjoy games from all companies because I enjoy games from so many different genres, but when it comes to priorities, in a console competition like the one we have, game franchises like Uncharted, God of War and any spiritual successor to Ico and Shadow of the Colossus are a priorities for me as a gamer. If other companies ought to vanish and see death for the sake of those franchises continued releases then so be it, their deaths are more than welcomed.
