This reasoning can make sense as long as these platforms have a comparable amount of games, but in my opinion it's not reasonable anymore if, for instance, platform 2 had 10 great and 10 good games, while platform 1 had 5 great and one hundred good games (over the course of 6-7 years). If quality vs quantity was all that matters and we just say we prefer quality, we would be better off owning a platform with only one game worth 100% and we would ignore a platform that has 1000+ 89% games. There's no doubt that quality matters as well. How much it matters is up to personal preferences. I know I prefer a good restaurant where I can have a lot of different and good stuff for 20-30 euro over a restaurant where they only serve the best 1oz of tenderloin I've ever tasted for approximately the same price. I'd still be hungry. |
I understand your reasoning. But is there really a platform with only one great game? Or a restaurant that serves only 1oz steak? Quality has more weight than quantity for anyone who actually enjoys something. And I was talking about shovelware and going to McDonalds.
Off-topic: And by the way, the whole shades of grey and its up to personal preferences is a bit uninteresting don't you think? If we reduce everything to opinion then what is the point of a forum? No one ends up discussing anything because there isn't any reaction to what anyone says. It's like what a person says has no meaning because that's like "your opinion man". Just tired of being politically correct, I guess. Anyway I agree with you more or less.

Xbox One is a better platform because it's more stable form seems like it would hold weight better.
PS4 and Wii U seem too fragile to be effective platforms, especially when a fall could be deadly, they'd be like those platforms that crumble when you stand on them for a few seconds.
Probably platform one, unless one or other platform had that one must have game (for me). But if all games are equally wanted then the platform with the most games in the very playable >7/10 range is preferred.

It is like two kinds of people where they go to a restaurant and one prefers more food for less money and less quality, or less food for more money but more quality. People who actually enjoy food prefer taste over quantity, people who actually enjoy gaming, prefer a few but great games to a large library of shovelware. |
7/10 is shovelware now?

Great games; I play through and are worth coming back to upon completion. Good ones I usually just play once.. that's if, I even bother finishing them at all. So the latter option.
I'd go with platform 3 because I'm a Nintendo fan.
