I think they are to leave their first party lineup in this condition, yes. If I had a PS4 I'd be pretty annoyed with their output.

What do you base this on?

As I thought, you choose to see them in a negative light. While it is true that this year has been lackluster, there is no reason to think that the future will remain like this.

I base this not only on the quantity, but also, from what I've played, the quality of Sony's first party offerings, which have been sorely lacking on PS4 in my view. If I'd bought the console, I'd be pissed off that Sony hadn't made it worth my while, that's all.

The thread asked for an opinion, so I gave mine. Not really feeling like an extended debate today, so I'll leave it at that.

My point still stand. But I won't push this any further.

Not particularly, in my case. o.o Thus far the titles have shown the one thing that made me happy with my PS3 last gen, and that was variety. Even just factoring exclusives I can't play on PC, I've gotten a bit of conventional first-person-shooter-love, a bit of 'Technically A Third Person Shooter BUT YOU CAN RUN LIKE THE FLASH' love, inevitable JRPG and Musou love, horror love in the form of Until Dawn, third-person ass-kicking slashing love in the form of Bloodborne, arcade love in such titles as Resogun, and just generally a nice, spread-out sprinkling of love. =P Not counting titles in genres I don't play at all, i.e. racing or sports games, or The Order 1886 because dear GOD that game was short and I was not impressed. x_X

My concern in terms of a company 'losing its touch' has been more about them becoming stuck in a rut and focusing their efforts on one particular market, maybe because they just want to maximize profit and focus all their development on one BIG group that'll guarantee them massive sales. I wouldn't want Sony to ONLY make JRPGs, or ONLY make third-person adventure titles, or ONLY make pew-pew gun shooters, and thus far I can't really say I'm concerned about that happening.

Now, would I like more exclusives? Of course! But I own a Wii U and still want more exclusives on that, and knowing the Xbox One's current and future library pretty well, I'd end up wanting more exclusives on that too, so it isn't like this is a uniquely PS4 problem for me because I can't look at ANY console and say 'Yeah, they're doing just great!' =P I'd definitely like them (all of them) to develop more IPs, create new titles, and basically give those of us who have invested in the hardware MORE, and will happily wave a banner saying 'MOAR! MOAR! :D ' but the important thing to me is that when they give us MORE titles, there is enough variety so it doesn't turn into 'Not A Third Person Adventure Fan? Well, TOO BAD! :D '

I think Sony (and MS's) 1st/2nd party problem this gen has been poor resource management rather than a lack of actual effort. We'll have to wait and see to be sure, but if we see them releasing multiple AAA 1st party titles in 2016 and 2017 (or a couple of new holiday 2015 1st party announcements at E3), we'll know that was indeed the case. If not, then at that point i think it'd be safe to argue that they've been lazy.

Am i the only one that liked it when Sony had to put up a fight last gen??, We got such great games and new IP's cos Sony was in 3rd place last gen that now they are in first it seems like they just are not trying as hard. I dont know but this is the first gen where i sold my 1st nextgen console (Being PS4) not long after buying it and playing the exclusives that i wanted cos everything else seems so far away.

Anyway am i the only one that feels this way? should Sony of kept the attude they had when they needed to fight lastgen?? is that attude even lost or have we just not seen it yet?

It's been a year and a half and already I'd say the games released are arguably better than this point in time on ps3.

ps3:
uncharted, resistance, gt:p, ratchet and clank, warhawk, folklore...

compared to...
infamous second son, killzone shadowfall, driveclub, LBP3, bloodborne, last of us, knack, the order
seriously?

EDIT: How did you trade your ps4 away after playing all the games you wanted?!?
I have a stack of games I haven't even finished yet. Every day I get more and more worried that too many games are coming out and I won't have time for all of them. Parallel universes, man, I'm telling you.

You're forgetting quite a few game

s and given  that Last of Us was an upscale from PS3, I personally wouldn't count it but to each his own.

If we were to extend the comparison to the middle of the month, the list would look something like this.

PS3- Uncharted,  Resistance, MGS:IV, Ratchet & Clank, Motorstorm,  Folklore,  Valkrie Chronicles,  Heavenly Sword, Ninja Gaiden: Sigma, Warhawk, GT5: P, Ridge Racer 7, Unreal Tournament 4 (timed exclusive)

PS4 -Infamous:SS, Killzone 4, Knack, Driveclub, LBP3 (another upscale), The Order, Bloodborne, The Last Of Us, MLB:14.

Imho, PS3 line up was more more impressive.

I own a gaming PC. So the only games i wanted to play on the PS4 was the exclusives, and i've played all the ones i wanted till Uncharted 4 comes out (Would of kept my PS4 if it was still launching this year).

And what exclusives were those?

lol why are you including third party games??
I could easily have included third party games as well in the ps4 lineup. IMO none of those games even compares to a fucking demo that is now unavailable.

I do personally think the PS3's line-up was better (though if i hadn't previously played TLOU on the PS3 then the PS4 would have won for me on that alone), but if you're including 3rd party exclusives then you're missing quite a few titles from the PS4's side.

Not exactly. I mean, Sony getting their asses handed to them by both Nintendo and Microsoft (mostly due to their their own stupidity) did force them to make changes that ultimately made the PS3 a good console and one could argue the lack of that pressure is actually holding the PS4 back from it's full potential but I would say PS2 was when Sony was at their best. They were winning, they had an endless supply of third party exclusives, and their own studios started making good games. Unlike the PS1, gameplay was no ;longer sacrificed in favor of production values that be dated in under 5 years. Both the gameplay and production values were there.

That was Sony at the best and they have not been nearly as good ever since.

IMHO PS1 Sony was best Sony

This, I can never have that same enjoyment I had with the PS1 after that gen, I mean, I also love the PS2 and PS3, but not the same enjoyment level as the PS1.
