Forums - Gaming - Did anyone else like Sony more when they were losing??

Meh Sony has the best gen when they were winning(PS1;PS2). A lot of games being supported left and right without care if it was AAA or AA or A whatever those games are called. If anything Sony is doing well saving the gaming industry from the clutches of AAA games taking over again when games can be still be good even if it doesn't have a high budget. Instead we got a lot of devs closing down shops trying to chase that AAA dreams from that gen you called best cause Sony was losing.

That doesn't make much sense.

Why is the PS4 doing so well right now? Probably because they lost so much market share last generation and they had no idea that they would be "winning" this generation. Most of the changes in philosophy that have shaped the PS4 came about because of that uncertainty. Contrast that with the mind-set Sony had with the PS2 and PS3 where they wanted development to be difficult in order to make multi-platform titles harder to pull off.

Almost nothing in the gaming industry is immediate. What you see now has probably been in planning for years. The Sony you see now is a direct result of last gen, not from Sony leading this gen.

And what did ps3 had in the 1st year and half? Not much different.

Can you not remember PS3 at launch. I can.

It released in the UK with 7 games. Nothing really happened until Uncharted then shit went crazy. At one point I wish I didn't sell my 360 so soon to fund for the damn thing lol

PS4 as already had plenty of games and new IPs. Knack, DriveClub, The Order and Bloodbourne. 2 flopped (The Order still awaits personal verdict), 1 rebounded back from a flop (I still enjoyed DC from launch) and Bloodbourne got it right. But they are still trying new franchises plus there's a few known new IPs in the works.

They have also released good solid exclusives for a console not even 2 years old. KZ, LBP, MLB, I:SS (enjoyed them all, KZ mp has always been very fun to play) and Uncharted 4 is only around the corner.

To top it off PSN is better than ever, PS3 had a shocking store for years.

If PS4 had had a "slow start", then god knows what you would call PS3 early days.

For at least 2 years after PS3 launched the mantra was that PS3 had no games. There were even youtube music videos about it. So I don't think you can say lack of exclusive games this gen is a thing that makes Sony worse with PS4 compared to PS3.

Also I don't think its fair to accuse Sony of lacking in new IP. It's unfortunate that some of Sony's flagship early gen new IP has fallen flat, but it's not like Sony hasn't been trying to create an exclusive library. For new IP you have DriveClub, Knack, Bloodborne and The Order: 1886. I think that's a decent effort at new IP, and along with returning IP in the form of sequels and remasters that have significant appeal to the never-had-a-PS3 demographic who now own PS4 (like TLOUR) it's a reasonable exclusive line up.

I'm fine with Sony's output and attitude so far this generation.

I'd say I like a humbler Sony. Whether they are that way or not, well, it's kinda hard to tell.

PS3 is the worst Sony console so far, so...no.

I love your sig....DAT AS$! XD

Yeah it did seem like they tried harder. I mean, the PS4 is still getting some great games but not as many as I expected especially because 2015 was the big year for exclusives. But even without many big exclusives, the PS4 keeps selling so it makes sense why Sony isn't trying.

No. To be honest, I don't care one way or the other. It's kind of moot to me who develops the systems, the games are more important to me. I will likely always slightly lean towards Nintendo as I have grown up with them. However, with that said, I like or even love many games on all the platforms.

Gotta figure out how to set these up lol.

Am i the only one that liked it when Sony had to put up a fight last gen??, We got such great games and new IP's cos Sony was in 3rd place last gen that now they are in first it seems like they just are not trying as hard. I dont know but this is the first gen where i sold my 1st nextgen console (Being PS4) not long after buying it and playing the exclusives that i wanted cos everything else seems so far away.

Anyway am i the only one that feels this way? should Sony of kept the attude they had when they needed to fight lastgen?? is that attude even lost or have we just not seen it yet?

It's not because they were in third place or because they are complacent due to being in first place this gen. They own just as many studios now as they did last gen, and those are working on games just the same. Games take time to make, and their studios delivered during last gen until the very end of it. It's natural that the first two years of the PS4 will be scarce when it comes to first party games.
