If MS Releases a cheap PC thats more powerfull then the PS4 but running a version of windows 10 OS thats basicly the same as the X1 version, gives the very same experence as the X1 but is much more powerful and allow 3rd partys to also sell it (Same as valve is doing but fully backed by MS), has all the MS exclusives, plus 3rd party exclusives that MS pay for (Not that i think they would need much to make them do this since we all know 3rd partys are mad for a 1 platform system), id imagine PC gaming would explode in a way never seen before.

What you're describing there is a successor to the X1.

I think MS will make the next Xbox platform independent kind of like how you describe it. MS need to be in the living room in order to keep increasing software sales and they have the infrastructure to accomplish it. People also need to realize that games has always been a big part of MS so they wont leave the gaming scene, ever.

But what i mean is Xbox will simply be part of the OS, in other words the console would be a PC running windows 10 that any company could make and would be fully backed by MS using the xbox image so console fans wouldnt be left with the sigma that PC gaming is too complicated etc since they would just think of it as buying a new xbox, but really they would be buying a PC running windows 10 but modified for the big screen like the X1 OS is, hope you get what i mean?

Why would they do that when it would harm their own console?

I'm assuming you mean certain locked PC specs that any MS partner would be able to make? If that's just ordinary PC there's one 'little' problem - sooner than later pirates would do their thing, just like with PCs today.

If it's not just off-the-shelf PC, than that's console, just with different manufacturing/sales model.

I hope that really happen, but then again they will be facing STEAM on PC gaming platform.

That'd be pretty cool :P

Sounds good to me.

A) nobody buys PCs anymore they're all custom built and I don't think Microsoft is considered 'hardcore' by that crowd lol

B) What exactly does this take away from Sony or PlayStation platforms? Some of us simply prefer the customized OS and they have exclusives galore with cable now being offered as well as premiere next gen cloud features that you can't find anywhere else

MS wanted devs to use Direct X, Sony turned them down with the PS2 and MS decided the only way to spread DX around was to enter the console division. This is all about MS's DX software. The more Devs that use it the more money they make etc. DX has been a big part of windows gaming way before Sony even released there first console and since the console market was growing, MS tried to buy out Nintendo and implement DX with Nintendo's consoles, The big N said no, MS went to Sony and Sony said no, MS tried to buy out Sega and Sega said no, so they basically made there own console which became Xbox (Direct X Box) Sega's spiritual successor.

MS will always be in the gaming industry, there one of the oldest serving companies in the gaming market and they will continue because Windows gaming is one of the big reasons why people buy Windows over any other OS. DX12 and Windows 10 only proves my point. Its the best duo to have and will become a lot bigger once all there divisions are unified.

Microsoft didn't enter the console space to get their OS into the living room. That had nothing to do with the reason the original Xbox was conceived.
