The way the Ori dev is talking seems more like Scorpio feels like MS is entering a new gen by platform development. Right now devs would have to develop for X1 and then for PC but with the release of Scorpio devs will be able to develop for UWP which will be very scalable from X1 to Scorpio to PC. I don't think they meant that Scorpio is a new gen in spec.

Also I don't think we should compare potential Scorpio sales to PS4Pro sales. Sony is on a roll since the gen has started. They sell a lot and X1 not so much outside USA. Releasing PS4Pro didn't give people any reason to jump in any more than they are jumping in on right now. But in the case of Scorpio I see it differently. A lot of people just hated the X1 and refuse to get an Xbox even if they likes some of the games available for it. I think Scorpio has the opportunity to get those on the fence in. Also some that only have a PS4 might see a reason to finally get an Xbox.

People on forums like to pretend that because Xbox games also release on PC no one will be interested in Xbox but I believe that's just wishful thinking. When they'll see the most powerful console on the market running the new COD, Star Wars, Forza, Halo and RDR2, with a UBR and HDR I think Xbox will offer better competition then. I don't think they'll get as competitive as 360 was in EU but I think it might put more faith in gamers around the world,

If it is really a next gen machine I hope that Scorpio goes with Zen cores. Even 4 cores with Zen would be better than what they are doing now.

From the way they spoke off, it seems the Scorpio's no different from what most people thought it'd be, so I don't see what the fuss is all about...

And no, I don't want to use the poll. I spoke on the idea at the meeting. Half the staff's on the fence, the other half seems to want it and a couple want to ditch it in favor of a fighting game like BlazBluexDOA...

In other words, very evenly divided, which was no different than what I expected. Very irritating.

Just finished XCOM 2, what an excellent game! I played on veteran (normal) difficulty and it was really challenging, especially early stages of the game. There's lots of cool enemies, abilities, features etc but also annoying bugs. It also crashed many times.

Just have to play a multiplayer match and then I'll have over 1000G for it. I'll definitely play it again on higher difficulty or iron man mode someday.

At some point I just kinda stopped playing and distracted myself by playing something else. Will definitely return to it soon, though I feel like finishing Far Cry Primal first...

Yep I forced myself to take a break for couple of days twice heh. It's quite addictive game once you get things going. Had to load earlier saves couple of times as well because I used my resources badly. Elerium cores are needed for all proving grounds projects and they're hard to find so save them for EXO and WAR armors instead of experimental ammo etc. I also sold too much stuff on black market cos I didn't realize even corpses are needed for upgrading equipment.

I will post my theory here cause why not

So the ps4 pro has more or less 3 modes with the devs that care enough

1080p high detail
1080p performance
1440p-1800p checkerboard with ps4 graphics settings

So maybe what Scorpio might have for the devs that care enough is

1440p high detail with checkerboard
1440p performance with checkerboard
4k Native with ps4 graphics settings

Note: high detail doesn't mean pc max, it just means higher than ps4

The reason is if we look at benchmarks for a 480 (Scorpio's GPU might be more powerful with higher vram, CUs and Memory Bandwidth)

It is capable of 1440p in optimized games and then we look at 4k benchmark

Well... 23fps at PC max isn't bad considering the card and what it's trying to do but lowering the settings enough to what ps4 has might be enough to make it run at 4k. But of course, it will be heavily game dependent.

I don't understand any of this thus why I prefer Xbox One :)

Oh hi there Faptain

Proud to be a Californian.

I don't really know how I feel about the Scorpio as a forth generation Xbox :-p

Oh hi there Faptain

Loll supp

To put it simply, it should be able to run at 4k 30fps with some graphical settings turned down with optimized games.

PC Specs: CPU: 7800X3D || GPU: Strix 4090 || RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 || Main SSD: WD 2TB SN850

Oh snap! I hope MS doesn't go the "half assed" way.
