I think they should go with Xbox 720 and Xbox 720 Pro.

Eh, not a fan of that, would further confuse the already messy Xbox naming over the generations. They need to simplify, not further complicate.

I definitely think that adopting a simple number based system moving forwards for all future gens is their best bet at this point. Xbox 4 and Xbox 4 Pro, or they could save Xbox 4 Pro for the inevitable mid-gen refresh, and get cute with the naming and call Anaconda Xbox 4 K since it is aiming for 4k while Lockhart/Xbox 4 is aiming for 1080p supposedly.

Gamers have already got used to Microsoft's wacky console names and naming it the Xbox 4 won't look good aginst a Playstation 5. I've heard the numbers is one of the reasons they didn't name the 360 the Xbox 2.

The Xbox 360 gen represents MS best generation so I think Xbox 720 will be a pretty good name.

I still think going for 1080p in 202 is a mistake.

Calling it just Xbox would be a terrible idea, because that console already existed back in gen 6. They should simply adopt a numbering scheme at this point. Call Lockhart Xbox 4 and Anaconda Xbox 4 Pro. That naming scheme would bring Xbox in line with Surface.

Xbox 4k, Xbox 4k60, Xbox 460. Something like that if they're going with 4. It would tie it to the 360 naming scheme and have the res and frame rate in the name as well. Just Xbox 4 alone will sound inferior to PS5.

Nobody will think an Xbox 4 is worse than a PS5 just because of the number. It's from different companies after all.

It's like saying people won't buy a BMW 5er because the Audi A6 has a higher number.

It's only a problem if the same company releases a product with different numbers. Then the higher number sounds like the better one.

Otherwise companies would all just call their products XY 9,000,000

I'd be okay with Xbox & Xbox Pro but also Xbox Infinity & Xbox Infinity Pro or Xbox V & Xbox V Pro (Who cares at this point, their naming is already fucked so we can skip to 5 and have naming parity with PS5).

I have to agree with you on this point.  Who really cares what they name it.  At the end of the day people will either like it or hate it but forget it and just call it what they want and move on.  Its no different from calling it Xbox One which people said the same thing then but now do not care.

It's the Sigil of House Targaryen in Game of Thrones. There have been rumors of a AAA Game of Thrones game for awhile, looking like MS might have gotten a marketing deal for it, maybe even got it as an exclusive, but I'm doubtful of that.

Likely just another custom console, they do them a lot.

Yep, almost certainly a custom Xbox one.

They posted something GOT related on facebook too.

Hm, MS excels at making tons a controller/console variations..... if only they were as good at making games as they are at controllers.
