I prefer Gears. In fact, Gears was one of the first games I bought for my 360 back in 2006. I've completed the entire series (1-3 and Judgment). Gears of War is THE system seller for me on the One and once 4 is announced and ready to go, I'll likely buy the special edition Xbox One that releases next year.

Gears wins no contest for me.
I prefer TPS. If it's a FPS, I cannot stand it being linear (level based). That's why I could never get into Halo, Bioshock, Wolfenstein, CoD, whatever else...
Then, Gears just has more memorable characters and story, it's more...human...than a silent space marine with a computer telling him what to do.
Also, Gears invented Horde mode. The best mode ever made. Halo's copy of it is just - boring.
Gears had couch co-op, so I could enjoy it with my wife.

I tried to play Halo 3 and 4, and both times quit barely halfway through.
Gears I finished multiple times, solo, co-op, easier, harder...

I love them both and the choice is real close for me but I would say i perfer multiplayer of gears slightly more and the singleplayer for halo.

Neither. Both franchises have different developers and have been slipping considerably. If we're talking existing: then probably Gears.

Love both but Halo easily. Halo MP is just so much better imo but I did really start getting into Gears of War's 3 MP a lot. Can't wait for Gears 4 and Halo 5.

The thing with halo is that the first games were amazing at there time.

I liked the first Halo. I loved Halo 2. I expected way more from number 3 and. The rest I don't like at all.

I have hated every gears game I ever played. I just can't get into them. I just can't put my finger on it but its not for me.

I don't like either too much, but I prefer Halo, Gears is boring as f.
